I think it's safe to say it's a case of straight up nerves. A lot of weight on his shoulders this week. See how he goes for the rest of the round.

Total nervous meltdown. He should've popped half a xanax on the range in retrospect. 2 tentative swings on 2 and the stroke on his birdie putt looked very defensive. Much like me. Trying not to miss too badly instead of trying to hole it. I hate to see someone go into to total meltdown for an entire round (There's a couple players I'm sure I would have a big smile for), but he may heading that way. I feel bad for him. Hopefully for his sake he can bring back close to even on the day.

Same here. I would never feel sorry for him. His latest Instagram bragging was showing off his new all-gold Omega watch. I'm sure he'll sleep just fine tonight regardless of his 8 on the 1st.

 

Try shooting 8 on the first and having to get up at 5:30 to go to work every day :lol:

duval played the wrong ball ... all the way to the green, i believe ... had to go back to the tee, under 2 shot penalty, and play it again ... not sure what all transpired or how many penalty strokes there were, but the wrong ball is what made it happen ...

Looks like it's now a 13 vs 15. They did mention that he played a wrong ball on his second shot, so had to go back to the tee box. Didn't get better after that apparently.

I just saw an ad for those "limited edition" wedges commemorating Rory's course record at Portrush. The ones with "RORS" in green on them.
