Bryson DeChambeau planning to get "a lot bigger" in the next couple months

You usually make your biggest gains in the first few months. To me, he doesn't look like he lifts at all. Given he has whole team at his disposal, if his goal is to gain muscle mass, he could put on like 6 pounds on muscle in a couple of months. Throw on a little fat too and he could look noticeably bigger. But, I don't see any way around his lifting consisting of heavy squats, deads, bench/back work. Not sure if that's really the best functional strength training for golf.

 

Not even sure why his goal would be to gain mass. You can make similar strength gains without adding mass. Maybe that's what he means.

But it seems we see top golfers like to do things to switch up their routines. Lift, mess with their swings, etc.

The funny thing is to the eye, if he put on 2 pounds of muscle but dropped say 30% of his body fat. He would "look" noticeably bigger without really adding that much weight. In fact, he could look noticeably bigger and loose weight over all. Just changing body composition. land lowering fat percentages while slightly adding muscle will change looks dramatically.

 

That is where Phil, for lack of a better term failed. He lost some fat, but did not add muscle. He is still very soft.

Bryson would look bigger with his shirt off if he gained 2 points muscle and lost 30% fat. He wouldn't look bigger with his clothes on though, maybe more fit

he would look smaller but leaner. if hes 200 lbs now and 20 % BF that means he has 40 lbs of fat. he's going to lose 12 lbs of fat in 2 months? good luck and that would be a 10 lb weight reduction with gaining 2 lbs of muscle. not going to happen.

 

you're throwing out a lot of numbers without knowing what it means, how hard it is to achieve or what that would look like.

I know exactly what I mean. I am not new or ignorant to exercise and the results that can be achieved. Of course it is a stretch and would be difficult, but given the amount of available time he has. Given the resources he has to throw at it. It is possible. that is all I am saying. I have friends that do large fitness competitions body building, bikini contest, etc. I go to the gym most days twice a day and I have seen what can happen once an individual is dedicated and committed to a goal.

 

Transformation can happen very quickly.

 

Most people are basing it off their own overweight and sedentary lives. They hear someone say something like Bryson and immediately think "NO WAY". For them, they are right. Yes, He would actually be smaller, I am saying that individuals that weight less, but have lower body fat look bigger. Think Rocky 4. Sly probably weighed around 170 pounds if that given how short he is but looked pretty big no.?

 

Bryon is already a pretty big guy but is still carrying for lack of a better term a bunch of baby fat. If he leaned up, got a little stronger, he could look very different in a short amount of time. It is that simple.

DeChambeau is obviously a good player. Given his record, he should be considered one of the better players on tour, currently.

 

Yet, somehow, he seems to think that he should be a superstar. But, he doesn't quite have the game to be Tiger, nor the charisma to be Phil or Rory.

 

So, he looks for gimmicks to set himself apart. Every few months he starts down a different, and revolutionary, road to greatness.

 

Ultimately, he just ends up being annoying. Shut up, play golf, win some majors, and the accolades will come.

Depends on the person but you can definitely look noticeably bigger dropping body fat and weight assuming you lift at the same time. But, it takes time to do it right. If we are talking a couple of months, one extreme he could drop a lot of bodyfat but if the goal is to get strong, and especially bigger, you gotta eat. The other extreme is to maintain/ slightly increase his bodyfat and also gain as much muscle as he can, gain like 10+ pounds total.

 

The best thing in 2 months would be to just lift hard, eat well but not crazy much, and pretty much stay the same weight, drop some body fat and get stronger (but add little actual muscle mass). He could end up with a net loss of 5lb, shed a half a belt loop, but get his delts pumped and look bigger ; )

Totally Agree, with the access he has to professionals he could make some significant changes to his physical composition in a short time. As the saying goes abs are made in the kitchen combine that with a strict strength training program and pro's to keep you honest. I don't doubt his drive, although I will be interested to see how his physical transformation translates into better numbers, that have the potential to translate to better scores.

Lol, I know, just bustin your chops. I think I got my workout down to a tee. Cycling, sat, sun, tues. Lift, Wed (squat/romainian dead), Thurs (back), Fri (chest/shoulders).

 

I really am looking forward to BDs results and especially his commentary on his training. Should be very entertaining.

His words were 1.5 months, we are just going off that. You aren't going to see some pretty "big" changes unless he was going to slim down, that is what the studies have shown. To see "big" changes at a minimum, he would need 3 months and have to spend quite a bit of time in the gym daily and use some performance enhancing drugs to help so can actually recover. For muscle building it's all about the muscle recovering and growing, you need steroids to recover faster so you can go to the gym more often. Turns your body into a machine.

 

Alot of movie actors who only have a year or so to get "big" results use performance enhancing drugs, they get paid millions so the reward is there.

He actually looks quite a bit stalkier in person than some of the other pros I saw a few weeks ago. But yeah, he can also just cut some fat, get some Bruce Kupcake hemmed shirt sleeves and look bigger
