New callaway driver “mavrik” (Pics added Page 8)

I assume it sounds better than the Epic Flash? I know sound is subjective but I could not handle the weird sound of the EF......

Went and got fit for the SIM, SIM Max and Mav. Ordered a Mav, it was absolutely what I wanted once we got the right shaft in it. Forgiveness of the rogue, distance of the Flash. Couldn’t be more excited for it to come in next week.

Demoed the Mavrik today and had it up against my Rogue (Both Subzero with my shaft). My averages for both carry and rollout were identical. Spin was lower with the Mavrik. The one difference was operator error where the Mavrik I had a smash of 1.44, and 1.48 with the Rogue. So if smash was the same I would gain a few more yards. Not worth it on a cost basis for me but I'm a WRX'er so you know it will find my bag at some point. I really liked the look of it though. Better than the Rogue.

Did you test any other shafts to see if there was a more optimal shaft match for you in this head than your rogue gamer?

Anyone hit the Mavrik SZ yet? I just saw the Callaway You Tube video and they talked about how the standard will fit most golfers and it’s the longest out of the versions but the SZ is a 450cc head. Then they have a Mavrik Max in both the driver and fairway woods. First time they said they have done that in the FW.

here is the link.https://youtu.be/BBq7ZUpBc_U

Hit mavrik today. It's fast and forgiving. But it's draw biased for me. Gonna try one of my shafts in it tomorrow after I get the adapter put on. If I can eliminate the lefts with it then it may go in the bag. I'm a fader and I couldn't keep face open to path with the head. Had same issue with sim.max. SIM was better...CoG adjustability is for me.

on the Callaway YouTube video at the 5:12 mark the Callaway folks state the SZ is smaller at 450cc. Not certain where you heard they were 440cc except the max? By the way they were talking the normal and max are 460cc and the SZ is based off the Triple Diamond from last year and is 450cc. Unless they misspoke.

They need to get together with their marketing teams and get the correct answer out. The folks on the video seem to be the product folks.

From the pics I’ve seen of the Mavrik SZ driver, the front weight seems to sit right in between the Jailbreak bars whereas when I compare to the looks of my OG Epic SZ, the weight is still in the middle but ~ 3/4 of an inch back if one measures from the middle of the screw. Does this provide any benefit like reducing spin even further?

It was big time for me. Not sure if it was gea0r effect or CoG back and face rotation was just out of control. But I couldn't swing normal and hit a cut. I'm almost always 2-4 degrees out to in and .5 to 2 degrees open to path. With mavrik path was the same but I was always square or slightly closed to path. No bueno for a fader.

It was fast though. And the ball wasn't hard left, just starting left and drawing a bit. Consistent though.
