Can anyone tell of distance gains with the XP. Coming from the XF line I've liked that look which is similar to 919HM but seeing the lofts makes me wonder if I'm gonna have to weaken them slightly and add another wedge at 52° or so. I wouldn't mind if I can make the 0311P work but if they're smaller than P790 or 565 or even 919 Forged I may not have the get to bag them.

i thought Birdie was asking regarding the distance gains from XF which I believe was Gen 2 compared to XP Gen 3, not Gen 3 P to XP. At least that’s how I read his question

Dammit! How in the heck do you fill the bottom eng of the bag with these DAGGUM things. How in the hell do you figure out the bottom the bag without buying the set down to the G and then throw 3-4 wedges on top of that. I've owned more than my fair share of irons but this is starting to get kinda perplexing.

I have not seen that info anywhere, so a comparison to the G3 P is all I have.

Lets assume it is definitely longer at 2* stronger lofts plus the new design...maybe 1/2 to 2/3 club longer than the G2 XF....best guess.

If the XP is 12 yards longer than the P, what does the P compare to? I've seen testing of the P vs the P790 and i500 and they are all within a few yards. What club is longer than those three? Did the XP just create an ultra super duper distance category?

The chart is only a relative comparison between the new Gen 3 irons...not a comparison to other irons.

But, yes the XP is a monster distance iron!

Call it entertainment. That's my opinion. For me, Mizuno doesn't even come close to PXG in terms of feel, especially feel from off-center strikes. And, I stick to Mizuno not holding a candle to Miura. Miura is a totally different product than Mizuno, both in feel and quality and workmanship. Nothing wrong with a Mizuno club because when I hear people say they are the best feeling irons I just don't agree.The innovation they have brought to irons, in a big way. It was impossible to get the feel you get from a PXG previously from a cavity back or hollow iron. They have brought to market products with better forgiveness than cavity back irons and better feel than blades (for the average strike). Sure, nothing will beat the feel of a pured blade shot but how many golfers pure their blades all the time. In my opinion, what they have done for irons is remarkable. I regularly hit new irons at the shop and I can't believe how bad they feel compared to PXGs.

They have also aided in moving the equipment business away from big box stores and into custom fitting. I have been getting custom fit for 20+ years now and I always thought it was silly to spend major coin for off-the-shelf equipment. My fitters use to carry Miura, other JPM heads and a few domestic offerings. PXG has pushed many of the OEMs to work with custom fit shops.

Personally, I love PXG's approach to only releasing product if it performs better. I think they back that up. Too many OEMs just release products to boost sales. They are releasing and releasing, mostly garbage. Even companies like Miura keep releasing irons that aren't any better than irons they made 10-15 years ago in terms of performance.Miuras perform great on "slight" misses, anything more than slight and the feel is gone. Mizunos, in my opinion perform terrible on misses. Some will argue this is how it should be. I'm out their having fun and I'd rather have my misses still feel pretty good.

I understand the loft-game from a sales standpoint. When you are standing on a par 3 and hit a 28 degree seven iron to 6 ft, then your playing partner asks you what you hit and he tries to hit his 33 degree seven iron and comes up 15 yards short, it's very amusing :) Who doesn't want to hit their "seven iron" 15-20 yards further than their playing partners?

It makes not difference what's written on the bottom of the club, if I was playing XP, I would still be gaming 7 irons, 5i to GW and then two more specialty wedges.

I emailed them this weekend. They responded that Gen 2 irons are for sale via phone call and are priced at 400 per iron.

Called and tweaked my order today. Changed to mostly t’s, 5 iron in the p.

If they have inventory left, which I don't know, they will go on sale soon. Nobody is going to buy Gen2s at 400 a pop when you can get Gen3s for $25 more.

From a business perspective, it doesn't make sense to kill the release momentum on Gen3s by discounting Gen2s to $200. The last thing they want to swaying someone looking to buy Gen3s into a Gen2 because of price.

I've been considering doing the same thing, but I need the forgiveness in the long irons, and I'm afraid I'm not going to get the distance/forgiveness I want in the T's.

Surely the GEN2 irons are seeing significant discounts thru the HEROES program...many can buy them there while the GEN3 are not yet available via that program....just about everyone is or knows a Hero.

At $295 through Heros program it's a tough sale when you can get 0211s for $105. Performance and feel is almost identical to Gen2 XF. For some, like me, I think 0211s feel even a tad better.

Right now I have an order in for 5-PW in the P model. I'm considering changing it to 4,5,6,7 in P and 8,9,PW in T.

The tease of distance is tricky. I played Sunday with my iblades and hit them really well (of course when they are threatened...). Figure the t’s are about the same size and the iblades have plenty of forgiveness, expect to pick up 4-5 yards or carry with the pxg’s at the same loft.

According to the pxg data chart I showed above, the Gen3 T is 5 yards shorter than the P.

I think the XP, G710 and T300, yet to be released T-whatever it will be, would be a great comparo! Golf in the 21st Century is better than I imagined and I'mma kid who got to try the new 975D a few moons ago!

Based upon the testing done by Billy Horschel, the GEN 3 T and ST were producing about the same distance 3 - PW.

Lol nothing. For some reason I always want to set up PXG irons slightly open. I can’t square them up at address well. No clue why but it’s been the same story through every generation unfortunately. They're basically brand new. Only hit the 8i
