G fore shoes

Recommended Posts

I have all kinds of foot problems and just recently got the MG4.1 in Twilight. I'm only two rounds in with them, about 30,000 steps according to my Apple Watch, but they're the most comfortable pair of golf shoes I've ever had. The foam cushioning isn't quite as comfortable/doesn't have the bounce-back that Adidas' Boost has, but the uppers are more breathable than Primeknit or whatever Adidas is calling it these days.

I ordered the same size in MG4+ thinking they'd be a perfect alternative for wet days and dewy mornings, but they fit smaller. The toe box is more snug. I have a wide foot, so take that for what it's worth, but I was disappointed. Haven't tried them yet because I'm still considering returning them, so I do know it's possible they'd expand a bit to fit my foot, I just say either way about that yet. Might have to just stick with Codechaos for those wet days.

I bought the MG4+ and they are the most comfortable shoe, much less golf shoe I have ever worn.

I have played in wet conditions and have yet to slip or have any trouble with the waterproofing

When I am done with this pair I will buy another pair without a doubt

Love my G/Fore shoes! Picked these up last year and I should have ordered a couple more pairs before they discontinued them. Extremely comfortable and really no sliding around as you might imagine with a slip on style shoe. I would second the comment about cleats being aggressive and tough to clean. Especially difficult to clean in the fall or when you find yourself off in the woods... On the tee though you feel really locked in to the ground. Picture below right after coming off the course.

I have been rotating a pair of g4+ in over the winter with my Eccos and have been for the most part very happy with them.  Definitely need to order a half size up.  Even ordering up, the toe box took me a while to get stretched to a comfortable space, but was easy enough to do with shoe stretcher and wearing around the house in wool socks.  Very comfortable shoe for walking with good support and excellent waterproofing.  Will be interested to see how these breathe in the summer months, I have a feeling they might get a bit warm, but the waterproofing is great.  I did not think the smallish spike layout would work great in wet grass but they actually performed quite well and the bottoms are very comfortable on hard surface (parking lot etc).  Very nice shoe if you can find them on sale.

I'm normally one to pay a bit more if quality is better so will probably try a pair of these.  I don't mind spending $200 if they will hold up over 3-4 years, as opposed to spending $175 on a pair of Nike TWs that are worthless in a season and a half.  Not picking on Nike, just my experience.  Nothing but Adidas Tour shoes for me right now, but they fit me great, very comfortable, and last 3-4 years of waterproofing if taken care of and rotated.

I'm probably going to start with Saddle Gallavintors and will see how they hold up and feel.

I wipe mine down after every round, but they hold up. Things like cedar shoe trees will help. They still crease like any shoe after time, but we worth the $

I found the 4+ to be a true fit and the Gallivanters to be narrow in the toe box

This is so confusing hah. Guess I’ll just order my true size and see from there!

I have 12-15 pairs of g/fores in total: 5 pairs of MG4+'s, a pair of mg4.1's, and the rest are gallivanters. All of them are the same size, so you should be fine.

Anyone else have their MG4+ start to separate?  Right where the shoe flexes most for me, around the big toe joint area, the upper and lower is separating. I noticed it after 8 wears or so on my first pair, so brought them to my club to replace. They said they had never seen that, but a replacement pair was authorized. In the meantime I bought another pair in a different color and after one wear it’s starting to happen on my right foot already. Just curious if I am the only one with this, as my FJ’s have never done that over a year of wear. The MG4+ are legit the most comfy shoes I have ever walked in, but the material does seem so substantial the flexing seems to really pull it apart.

i have a pair, i like the fit, but hate the bottom. they pick up everything you step on. Their cleat design is way too aggressive. It is very difficult to get debris off the bottoms

I agree with this though I love the shoes. When it is dry they are great, if its wet out they will pick up enough leaves, etc. to add real weight to your shoes.

Not at all

I bought a pair in December and they look relatively new

The weather has been crap here in NOLA and they have held up in the muddy and wet conditions.

All I do is wipe them down with a wet rag after playing.

I'm lead to believe the MG4+ just dont fit me due to two pairs immediately separating.  Bummer as they are fantastic shoes.  I did my usual 1/2 size up, and even tried on my normal size to compare and it was bit too tight.

I am now the fourth guy at my club whose soles are becoming unglued from their G/Fores. Has anybody else had this problem? Ive been wearing mine for about 2 months.  Disappointed.

were these gallivanters or MG4+?  I have had no issues (yet) with gallivanters after a couple months of wear, but immediately with any pair of  MG4+.  Back to footjoy for me, but will continue to wear the Gallivanters assuming no issues develope.

They were the Disruptors, but my friends have had issues with the Gallivantors. Good luck with them, they look great.

Thanks, promptly going back to FJ for me after these pairs wear out.  The fit and comfort was just too good to pass up, and these caught on like wildfire at my club.

Wearing my MG4.1+ at the beach right now and I will say this after dealing with a wet day today: I slipped all over the place. As soon as I started my transition from the backswing to the downswing, I slipped 4 times when hitting my driver. Didn’t effect my shots too much luckily but I definitely had to watch this through my round which I didn’t like as I couldn’t devote my attention to the shot. I’m not a guy that has a lot of footwork either which is why it surprised me. Definitely going to my Gallivanters on the wet days from now on.

Oh, and my feet were a little sore and tired for the first time after the round today.
