The 50g shaft is actually 55g - I think. There are two things in play the overall weight and the swing-weight, well there is also the shaft profile too. It all goes together to see if it works for you. Too many things to go through on how it could work for you, but unless you try a lot of setups it is hard to know if it is optimized. For the common people (non-pros) we just need something that is close. I like a bit of head feel and I can not have the shaft lag on me - or lead. I think the counter-balancing actually makes it feel lighter. Give it a shot and see how it goes.

Agreed. With a lighter shaft the head weight has to be low so that the swing weight doesn’t go thru the roof.

The CB allows more mass in the head and keep the swing weight manageable.

They lowered the Hero pricing on the Porto’s today. Wish their was no upcharge for the Mitsubishi Orange shaft. Still pricey.

I currently play a Ping G30 with Ping Tour Stiff shaft. Would the Tenaci Orange be closest to that shaft? How does everyone like the Proto plus? Thanks!

I have not hit the Gen 2, but I just moved out of a 3 driver rotation (because I am nuts) TS2, TS3 and Epic Flash SZ - it knocked them all out of the bag. Obviously you need the right shaft for you and the right setup of the head - I am small - with Riptide shaft - love it

Question for you guys that have Proto already...currently playing 0811x with Evenflow Blue 65s, love the driver, playing it at 11.5 adapter setting right of “Pxg” logo. Being I play it higher lofted for launch...I’m guessing the Proto+ would be better set up for me?

The Proto X only comes in 9.5 and the Proto X+ only comes in 10.5. The same adjustable adapter is on the Protos as Gen 2. The Proto X launches higher than my Gen 2 0811X. I'm picking up anywhere between 10 - 25 yards depending on how hard I go after it. It's a rocket launcher! I have the same shaft in the Proto as I do in the Gen 2. Anyone needing more forgiveness may go with the Proto X+. My suggestion would be to locate their local fitter and spend some time hitting both, figuring out which one works for you and dialing it in. There's only 5,000 of these available (2,500 each), but this is truly a gem release and shouldn't be missed.

Yeah I get that “getting fit”...I actually have a fitting scheduled for July 12, but wanted to jump on the new lower price.

How much higher launching vs the Gen 2 was it for you.

I had a Gen 2 at 10.5 and bought the Proto X at 9

degrees and think they launch about the same if that helps

It's not excessive and by no means balloons. It's still a very penetrating ball flight launching in a slightly higher window. Absolutely love it!

With the new heroes price I couldn't resist anymore. Got the X Proto w/ HZRDUS 6.5 smoke yellow shaft. Will also test with my AD VR shaft.

Read insta comment yesterday which made it sound like the X+ was sold out. Not sure what feedback people need except these are great drivers and should be procured ASAP.

I hit them last week. Both my Dad and I commented how much they looked at felt like Ping drivers. I liked it, but very similar to Ping, in our opinion. The Gen 3 driver sounds like it will be out by Dec and will be similar to the prototype.

I just got fitted for the Proto. Went in thinking I would be getting the 0811x+, but ended up in the 0811x (lower spinning). It just worked better for me and still have me all parameters I needed for good numbers. The head shape is smaller then my Gen2 0811x and also deeper to my eye. Ball speed and launch was better then my Gen2 and was also fit into a shaft I wasn’t expecting. Went with the Riptide 50 stiff. Gave me the best dispersion (very small circle) and my strike location was a ball and a half center of the club face entire time. Can’t wait for it to get here.

Put in a extra 5 gram weight and made a great driver even better. Moved it up to D3.5 swingweight (at least on the not so great scale I have). Feel the head much better with the Riptide CB now.

I have both the 0811X and the X+ and cant decide between the 2 of them, both are great and they are very very close in dimensions, with the X+, I dial it down to 8.5* ( started with Static 10* ) and with the X, I keep it at 9*. I previously played the Sim driver but I prefer the PXG due to the deeper face , but the SIM did sound and feel great, im getting a few more yards with the PXG but thats probably due to the honeymoon period. All drivers seems to be maxed out once you are fitted properly. All you can control these days is backspin and launch angle and feel and forgiveness and appearance. Find the one that suits you best and bombs away !!!!

The + looks very deep vs the Sim Max (thx to another GolfWrxer). The + is my next purchase for sure. Or may have to wait for actual Gen3 if I can’t find a head next month.

Look and felt like Ping drivers? I never understood this rationale. I’ve owned the last 3 versions from each manufacturer drivers (just got my proto in yesterday). Pings have “turbulators” and a different weight system. Pings are also very tinny and PXG’s are like a dull thud. Quite the opposite in reality.

I guess both my Dad and I disagree with you. Felt the same to me and looks very similar as well. Makes sense, as I think one of the club designers came from Ping. :)
