That is exactly what Dr Greg Rose says and uses baseball pitchers as an example. The guys that throw fast, for a long time, have more mass. He believes that mass will help high speed guys have longer careers.

Turns out when your ball speed is 196 it doesn’t much matter if you cant hit it inside 20 ft with your wedge. Wonder if he could ever dial in wedges like DJ did when he had his great year. My home course is relatively short so when i walk its driver hybrid and then 6 iron down. I cant think of a reason he would need anything more than a 6 iron right now. Seems like everything less than 160 would be some kind of part throttle wedge though.

He is, pretty sure he smokes some as well. Sort of a social smoker like a lot of younger people today, only in certain settings. I guess it's less harmful than than a pack or two a day habit but doesn't seem to go with the jock image they seem to have.

Dude,, even social it's harmful, I know first hand as one who went from a casual only in certain settings dipper to someone who now has a crappy habit. I have been on my "last can" since March and the shutdown.

Yeah the smoking does not go with the jock image.

Hah! Same here on the dipping. It's actually easy to quit. I've done it hundreds of times. I started in the mid 1980s when I had a part time job during the holidays selling Christmas trees with a bunch of HS guys who dipped. Now I go through a couple of cans a week; at one point I was going through a can a day. Good luck with this being your last can.

Shame to me for trying to insert an actual post here, but I think Bryson’s mass works for his ‘limits’ he talks about. Several times it’s been mentioned that for consistency he works certain body parts to an anatomical limit in the swing, his left wrist, and his upper arm specifically. Adding mass will restrict his turn to a certain extent, and probably allows him to go hard at his turn knowing it will come to a halt long before it would’ve before when he was skinnier.

His driving was incredible, but really overshadowed how well he putted. I don't use a book or anything, but I did copy his way he lines up his ball using his putter shaft as a guide. It has really helped me!

He'll get those wedges dialed in. Like Faldo said steel shafts (which I don't think is true honestly, those graphite shafts are more consistent than a steel shaft you'd think), but I do remember hearing BDC say the wedges just "felt heavy" and he was just a hair behind them, creating the off line shots. At this point I put nothing beyond him doing something wonky to get those wedges going exactly where he wants.

Which is exactly why Long Drive guys don’t have long careers. It’s great that his club head speed is 135+ but the absolute fury he puts into that club is going to wreck havoc on his body. I wouldn’t be surprised if he spins out and tears a ligament in his knee or something.

 

Look at his swing vs Kyle Berkshire. Kyle swings it faster yet seems much more athletic and balanced. That dude is in phenomenal shape and even he knows he has to dial it back from time to time.
