3 iron go bye bye. Only reason to keep it and then ditch the 4 would be if you play in really windy conditions but you still want that 5w forgiveness for fairway shots, too.

@Pepe8714 Solid strike 5 iron is a consistent 190 and ball flight is a mid to high flight, my 3 wood is normally a mid to high ball flight as well depending if its off the deck or tee. Distance wise for the 3 wood I am all always 235-245.

4 or 5 wood is a versatile alternative. Much easier to launch than 3 wood, and since easier to get airborne, likely goes just as far, maybe farther.

Another nice thing about 5 wood is, can shut it down or open it up, making a 4 or 7 wood, at least works for me that way.

I literally this week just added back a 5 wood to the bag. I basically decided that my GAPR Lo 2 iron was brilliant, but only at certain courses, so now I have a 5 wood and a 2 iron that I swap in and out.

The 5 wood is much easier to hit (Titleist TS2) but when I play on a windy day or a links style course, I would struggle not to want something that flies lower off the tee and under the wind so well.

take the 3 and 4 iron out. put a 5 wood and a 21-23 hybrid. you wont regret it

I dumped my 3W for a 5W since I hit them close to the same distance and the 5W is much more forgiving

My carry bag goes 5w then 3h. My 3h is built to the same specs as the 3i it replaces so it has a shorter shaft than most 3 hybrids. As a result I have about a 20 yard gap between the two.

I’ve got a g400 three wood I am dumping, the 5w turned down to 16.5 is almost as long but more reliable ... now my 3h and 7w are having a rumble

OP, like most have mentioned I'd replace the 3 iron with the 5WD and find something you can trust to replace the 4 iron with like a 22-24* hybrid or 7 wood.

I went away from 5 wood for a little bit but earlier this year, it’s made a comeback and unless I significantly change how I deliver the club, it’s staying.

 

I go D, 15*3d, 17.5* ping g410 5 wood, 21* ping g410hy, 24* xforged DI, 27* iron.

 

Better than the similarly lofted hybrid, SUPER versatile and most importantly, clutch. I hit a shot today that I could never have hit with hybrid.

 

If you are not a loft adder at impact (or have tons of speed), 5 wood should allow to maximize performance and scoring from that yardage.

I think modern 5 woods are incredible clubs. As long as your swing path is somewhere near neutral and your face to path is ok, these clubs will find the fairway. You need to SEVERELY miss hit the 5 wood to have it not end up with a nice flight onto the fairway. Just wonderful.
