Villegas’ 22-month-old daughter passes away

Camilo Villegas’ daughter Mia passed away Sunday in Miami after battling tumors on her brain and spine. She was 22 months old.

“The PGA TOUR is deeply saddened having lost a member of our family, Mia Villegas,” PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement Monday. “We grieve with Camilo and Maria and our thoughts and prayers are with the Villegas family.”

This is very sad...it's bad enough when it happens to an adult (my mom many years ago and a friend recently)...but to a child? Very sad. Best wishes.

As someone who lost a son at an equally young age, I can share that there is no bigger grief in life than losing a child. It's simply devastating.

My Mom's sister died when she was very young. Mom talked about her her whole life. She'd tell us stories of her sister as a little girl. We never get over it. It's a hole in our heart for the rest of our lives.

A friend of mine played at a SEC school when camilo was at Florida. He said when they played at the same event without fail he would come over and say hi how are doing.. Just a classy down to earth guy. This is just a God awful story. I have no words.

I have met Camilo on several occasions and he is a genuinely nice and down to earth person. So sad. He’s one of the good guys on tour.
