I have an early release. Was thinking of doing 105tx ss twice. Think that would work? Wish they had a 110 gram stiff option. I might be a littler turned off on the 105 weight range because I had the modus 105 stiff and it didn’t work out well at all.

I would suggest it's possibly not the weight you're noticing, but the flex of the Modus 105?  Just a thought.   <shrug>

It could be. For some reason they just seem to get really spinny and don’t work with my swing.

Does anyone have these shafts? Care to give any feedback on initial thoughts, performance, etc.?

I have Modus Tour 105 S, this may be a stupid assumption, but I didn't know if I should go up to an X or TX in the MMT's? Is a graphite 105g shaft softer than a steel 105g shaft? I have so many questions. haha

Thanks!!

I just had a brand-new set of MMT 105S pulled.  They feel nice at impact and spinning the ball wasn't a problem, but mid-bend profile doesn't work well with my fast tempo and transition.  Mid-high OR High bend "S" meets my fancy.

Answer - NO.  Whether it works or not depends on your tempo and transition.

IMO - MMT 105S would fit someone with a nice even tempo, full swing.  And if you're playing steel "stiff" you should not move to X or TX in composite graphite.

Edit PS update, my tempo has slowed some so MMT 105s is working fine in mid-short irons.

Modus 105 are mid-bend, mid-spin, mid-high trajectory

Steelfiber i110cw "s" are mid-high bend (I have a set), low-mid spin, low-mid trajectory

MMT 105s are mid-bend (I have a set.) mid-spin, mid-high trajectory

I considered heavier versions, but never messed with Modus 105 because specs were obvious to me.   When I decided to go to lighter weight shafts, lightweight steel was not a consideration.  I have 2-PW set of TM Rsi TP irons with KBS tour V 110s shafts, never got along with them, so guests use them.

You are correct though, their bend / spec profiles are similar, only MMT 105 shafts are finer shafts.

FWIW my swing and X100 and S300 have never gotten along on 3/4 swings.  I have never understood it, but this is exactly what happened when I tested both the 105 and the 125 in both X and S flexes.  I tried soft and hard stepping them in a 9 and 6 iron test.

From what I found the MMT profile is eerily similar to that of the S300 and X100, or at least it was for me.

I was always a Rifle shaft player for years.  FCM to TT rifle for years and years.  Now I am not saying the profiles match or that my swing didn't change at some point but my favorite two shafts in graphite are the Recoil (non-proto, the proto play a lot more like the MMT), and the Catalyst in 100.   The problem with the Catalyst in 100 is that I had to add some lead tape to the shafts as they were just a smidge lighter than I liked.

Its subjective and design driven.

I have both MMT TT and Tensei AV White AM2 TT sets, and to my surprise, both shafts are in the bag.  I went with the former mid-high bend 125g stiff in wedges though 5i, and the latter high-bend in 4i-2i.  Its the best of all worlds for me.

Mitsubishi managed to develop a combination of stainless steel and graphite in such a way, the tip section provides feel similar to my PX 6.0 steel, but with thin walls, stability and trajectory control.  At the same time, less wear and tear on the body.

IMO Lightweight steel shafts (under 115grams, I have a few sets) does NOTHING more than help to maintain SS, and less costly.  I played PX 6.0 for a long time, then went to PX 5.5 (115g) shafts, then to i110cw "S" Steelfiber and now MCA shafts.  I am not playing MMT 105 because of the bend, that's all.  MMT 125s are more accommodating having mid-high bend.

Earlier Graphite shafts were unstable, trajectory was not controllable, bends were all over the place with most graphite shafts, except for the Tour graphite series made by G.Loomis in the mid-90s.  His tour graphite series was above all, at the time.

Anyway, that's my opinion.

thanks for the info, i appreciate it. Bottom line is i need to demo for myself and see which works better for me.

Im very picky about iron shafts and after a long search the Modus 105 were by far the best. The MMT in the driver is just awesome though, so im looking forward to trying out the iron shafts as well

I have been thinking about switching from PX 5.5 to MMT. I don't live in an area that has a lot of exotic shafts to test. Would the 105 TX soft-stepped once or the 105S be more comparable. I have hit the 95s before and I liked them but it felt too light.

I’ve played PX 5.5’s before and I found the MMT 105s to be stiffer feeing than the PX steel. Nothing “whippy” about MMT’s whatsoever. Just a tight straight ball flight. If you are comfortable with PX 5.5, then start with the 105s and then go from there.

MMT in TX is based on the DGX profile.  PX 5.5 is considered by many to be fairly similar to DGS, if you're coming from that, I would say MMT 105 stiff is the better option.

As another comparison, PX 6.0 is pretty close to DGX, with a stiffer mid section.

Could someone compare Steelfiber i95cw stiff to the MMT 105 Stiff in terms of stiffness, feel, trajectory?

SF i95cw stiff work for me, in general, but after nearly a year of playing, they still feel too light to me.  No issue with SF i95 stiffness, flight, etc.  Looking for a bit more weight and perhaps a bit more of the Mitsubishi velvet feel.

Not an apple to apple but close

Long time player of 95 reg. Got the 105 mmt stiff in another set of clubs that had some heads that I wanted to retry. Anyways took them to the range and really got along w them. Whereas I would lose some fibers left and occasionally right, the mmts wanted to go consistently straight. I would lose a couple right but zero left.

Was good enough to come home and build an 8i of a matching gamer set. Back to the range and even more consistent. So came home, broke everything down and waiting on another  pw 105, pw 125 and a 90 parallel for my 4i for rebuilding.

Compared to the reg, they feel more connected and powerful. They are going to be ssx1 1/2 over into my zx5/7 combination

The flight is a bit higher than the 95r, and again more consistent.

I replaced my SF i95 stiff w MMT 105 stiff.  Wanted more weight and better feel.  It worked.  Best graphite iron shaft I have used / tried and I have tried quite a few.

I play 1/2 over, and at the same length, these swing weight about 3-4 points higher than the SF i95.  I tend to like heavier swing weight so I am pleased with that outcome. General stiffness seems in the same ballpark.  The MMT 105 stiff remind me of a PX LZ steel shaft w the Blueboard smooth and relatively soft middle.  Trajectory is higher w the MMT than SF and dispersion seems tighter but that may be because the weight suits me better.   Added bonus is the MMT seems to absorb more vibrations than the SF.   Silky smooth but stable. Overall, extremely pleased with the MMTs and excited to play!

I have the MMT 105S in a set of P760's. I came from Nippon Modus 120S and they seem to play very true to flex. The MMT's seem stiffer until you hit them and they are very smooth. I really only bought the set to try these shafts as they were a great deal. I can really go after them and they do not balloon like the Nippon's could at times. I hit a ton of balls and the MMT's help in reducing some of the stress to the body. I am looking to move to the P7MB's and only wish I could order these from TaylorMade instead of having to pull them apart. Great shafts.

Hey @rnolan79 you mind sharing what your avg 7i distance is as reference? I started with DG S300, then the Modus 120S (which I liked), then tried the Modus 125S (like as well), and now in MMT 125, contemplating to trying the 105S. I'm a smooth tempo player, so I'm starting to wonder if the 125g category is pushing it for me.

Hey @Avidswampthing66 do you have any issue going down from 105S to 95S and going after it, as in, the clubhead starts to have trouble keeping up? Curious how your distance/flight/dispersion compared between the 105S and 95S.

I turned them over quite a bit for a couple weeks until I got used to the feeling. They actually felt stiffer but at the same time lighter.  I played them for a few months and ended up going back to 105s.  MMT makes a 105 gram shaft that I want to try. Now my elbows are back to being sore again lol.  I need to find a good graphite shaft for sure. (I play a lot)
