Long term Stability Putter shaft reviews

bro, I am (was) in exactly same situation!  My putting game is strongest than others and I was totally fine with my Evnroll.

I saw the tour black and just ordered it. I never fathomed of spending $50, let alone $300 for a putter shaft, but if you think about it, it's only $300 and you rarely change your putter. $300 for 3-4 years of usage is totally fine with me.

I go out for a sushi dinner and it costs $300.

Currently BGT is backed up so if you send you putter in, they don't know when they'll finish it. So if you can install it locally, buy the shaft only.

GL !

Don’t forget about Will People’s. He installed mine and it’s perfect. He turned it around in one week from receipt of my putter.

so stability shaft's benefit is it allows the face to square better. then it makes sense that it benefits plumbers neck better than mallet with face-balanced?

I ordered a Tour black. I'm deciding which putter I should put it in.

I'm a complete novice on stability shafts. Can someone explain how in layman's terms, that a shaft allows you to better square the face? What is the technology logic behind the stability shaft?

Well this is where I’m at.  I still am awaiting a brand new stability tour that I bought in the BST but thanks to the great USPS sitting here 20 days later and it still hasn’t left origin post office.  In the meantime I bought a swag putter in the BST and now I see the blackout stability tour shaft and now I’m fighting myself not to get it for the swag putter.  The other tour shaft that’s on the way would be going in my Newport 2.5. BGT has a military program so $269 for the tour black is calling my name!

what’s crazy is I haven’t even putter with this shaft yet but the swag putter shaft does feel different shaft wise, so that’s the thinking is that the tour would really stiffen the shaft up and have a better feel.

Question. Why don't I see many PGA players using this shaft? Perhaps marketing hype to target people who think they can buy their game?

Great question. I think you see the trend of graphite shafts starting to pop up which is a similar take on tech. The original stability was quite bulky and maybe new tour version will gain some popularity. Either way I know it’s not hurting my game to have it. Good point and question.

BST is financed and run by ex Adams Golf leadership, before Taylormade bought them for their tech. AG made outstanding equipment which wasn't mainstream on the PGA Tour, but was played a lot on other tours. While you may not see it too much on the PGA Tour for various OEM reason$, the OEMs are trying different gimmicks to duplicate the performance. Someone will pony up for and buy BST eventually. Like mentioned above, they are not magic wands for bad putters. However, they will add consistent performance to your putting results. Only practicing will make you a better putter.

I’m going to assume it’s because they’re not being paid to use or more likely they’ve rolled hundreds of thousands of putts with their current set up and don’t want to risk a change.   What other club in a pro’s bag sticks with them an entire career?  None beside a putter.

I've installed probably 10 original versions and 1 Tour version.  I did not like the newer Tour version...or at least not as much as the original version.  I will keep using, buying, and installing the original version as long as they keep making them.

What didn't you like about the Tour version? Just curious. I have two originals but am now buying a Tour.

I prefer the tour now to the standards unless I have a light putter head.  The standard shaft in anything over 350g turns the club into a sledge hammer in my hands.

Would a spider x putter with the small slant neck need a .355 or .370?

I couldn't find it anywhere online.  One thread said .370 for spider x, but I just wanted to check and make sure, in case anyone here knew offhand.  I will email before buying.

I may be one of the few to not like the BGT shaft.  I actually liked the stiffness of it, but I did not like the weight balance of it.  I felt like all the weight was in the handle and I couldn't feel the putter head as well as I normally can.  It did seem to make my lag putting better, but I couldn't control the club head as well so my accuracy was off just slightly.  I see where it definitely has merit, just wasn't willing to put in the work needed to see the results with it.

I've heard that the standard BGT can make heavy heads feel even heavier. Is this true or more of a person to person experience? I don't mind heavy and wouldn't mind a few heads to feel heavier. I'm just more worries about my heavy heads feeling like 400g+

How much heavier are we talking? Like would a 350g head feel like 370g? or less or more?

I just installed a tour and shaft is so heavy it makes the head lighter.. I can't get used to the weight change and I'm pulling almost every putt..

any tips to getting used to the shaft?

The tour has the same balance point as steel and the same swing weight.... put some lead tape on the head and see if that helps

Before doing this, identify if the grip weight is causing the issue. Too heavy a grip and you'll lose feeling in the head. My rule of thumb is 360g or less putter head should be accompanied by a grip 55g or less.

Tour pros have THOUSANDS of hours of practice with their current putter, and have figured out how to make it work for them.  Unless their putting goes completely south, they are VERY unlikely to change anything.

My grip is 88g.

So would adding 33g of leadtape to head be same as trying a 55g grip?

*Found out the previous grips weight before stability was 81g so only 7g difference.
