My SM9 50 arrived today. It was custom in that I had a different grip on there but I had been told that it would be with me Friday. Sat in the office today and the delivery guy has just dropped it in. Looks great! First outing with it on Thursday.

Small shop had a few lofts they are definitely smaller than the sm8 imo too.

I haven’t heard this before. Planning on ordering an SM9 set but I love the size/appearance of SM8. Do you have side by side pics for reference?

I dont. the shop I went to is a hour away. It's not much smaller than the sm8. If you aren't pre-ordering raw then it's worth to wait to see them in person.

Saw the new models last night. Some subtle changes but nothing to warrant a 15% price jump. S Grind 56 and 58 look great in the chrome. The other finishes look a bit low rent compared to TM and Callaway. Vokey fitting day at my club next month so 54 and 58 models will get demoed.

Was just told left-handed SM9's are back ordered until mid-May (all finishes).

I put black SM8s in the bag last year and went to see the SM9's last week. I did not test yet, but they look a bit small and the black finish looks cheap new off the rack.

I was told 3-5 weeks from yesterday on all SM9s regardless of hand or finish.

thats frustrating….. I was able to order before pre-orders even started and I’m still not getting it for 3-5 weeks. Good for you - frustrating for me. 😁

ESTIMATED is the key word. Definitely not getting my hopes up.

They are now quoting 8 weeks for delivery. In reality probably even more. Also Vokey charges $26 for shipping? Haha what in the world. It's like they are annoyed by custom orders.

@sir_shanks_a_lotthanks for the pics, they really show the weight shift upward well. Have you played them? Any significant difference in feel/spin/distance noted?

They look nearly identical to me except for the weight higher up around the topline on the SM9. Maybe the grind is just slightly changed around the toe? By like 1mm? Hard to tell. Could be exactly the same.

Haven’t played them yet. Probably won’t until a trip to Georgia next week:).  I’m sure I’ll miss plenty of greens at sage valley and have a full report.

I ordered them after only one look. (Coming from SM8s). I thought they looked great and not much different than the 8s. But if they are in fact smaller in profile, I would welcome that. I have always loved the shaping of the Vokeys but they've always been fractionally too big IMO.

Anyone received their raw pre-orders yet? Wondering if the April 8 date I was given is actually realistic. Aside from raw, nothing about my order was custom.

I didn’t feel like waiting forever, so I bought these off the rack and ordered the shafts I wanted. 
 

I played 2 rounds with the stock shafts and already love them.

Trying to decided on a finish, like raw but don't want to pay an extra $45/wedge so has anyone stripped the jet black easily? Cause I figured just tossing the wedges into some vinegar or coke for a day or so is easier and cheaper than spending that extra.

It looks to me like the black finish would be very easy to remove. It’s the one finish that has the “this wedge will rust” sticker on the shafts.

Really I should pay more attention to the club when I handle them in store, I'll look again and if that's the case I'll order the jet black and play them until I decide to strip them.

Keep in mind that the grooves are cut differently when a finish is applied as opposed to the raw finish. If you remove the finish it will effect the size and shape of the grooves I believe.

I get that for a plated finish but if the jet black will eventually rust I kinda figured they factored that in or just used a very thin finish to eventually make them rust as it wears off.

All the black finishes rust but as you could tell with the sm8 that the finish is still on even with all the coke vinegar sanding they did.

I was told 8 weeks from first day of pre order. So that will be next week sometime
