Best graphite iron shaft

Have normally played steelfiber i95 in stiff but wondering what’s new out there since and what flex should I look at?

I was between Tensei white, mmt, and steelfiber, ended up with Tensei white because I like the idea of varying weight through the set, and didn't love the feel of a steelfiber.

 

If I had to guess... there's lots of good ones, get the ones that are the right weight(s) and feel the best

Steelfiber i95 is a great product. I'm a 130g X stiff guy and I hit those in stiff and actually really liked them. Will game when I'm old haha.

I really like the old NV Pro 110’s (or maybe they’re 105’s?). Nice weight and feel.

MMT.  Stable, tight dispersion and distance control has been impeccable for me.  They don't feel dead or harsh like some graphite shafts, not to mention they are easy on my joints.

I hate to say it, but someone has to....

 

There's no "best graphite iron shaft" that exists.  What is best for me may not be best for the next person.

 

If you like DGX100, MMT 125 TX is a good choice. 

Steelfiber i95, i110, and i125 are based on the DG profile, with a somewhat stiffer bottom half.

Retail versions of the Recoil (95 and 110) are said to hit the ball a bit higher, but not with a lot of spin; maybe they're similar to KBS Tour? (total guess on my part)

Recoil Proto are a stiffer tipped model.  At least one review suggests they hit a bit higher with lower spin.

Steelfiber FC models now exist, with softer tip sections and producing higher trajectories

 

And so on.  🙂

I'm really surprised how many people like the Steelfibers. Man those shafts felt very harsh to me.

 

But like was stated above, it's all about personal preference snd feel.

You have to try an Xcaliber Rapid Taper. It's cutting edge and stands up to any shaft made.

I’ve tested just about every one mentioned. For me, KBS TGI was the runaway winner.

what were you playing before.  I play $-Tapers in X but considering i95s 

 

I ordered i110X in my Z745's but was hitting low toe all day.  I think this was happening because they couldn't get the swing weight correct at standard steel lengths or possibly they were to stiff.  I need to get some shafts to test

They're discontinued, but the Project X LZ Tour Graphite iron shaft would be very similar.

I don't know the best but I use Accra iSeries and love them. If never go back to steel.

Rapid Tapers are on my "need to try" list.

Similar issue as with some other graphite shafts, not an option for heavier (re: 110) weight shafts in anything other than x-stiff

I have the recoil protos in my back up set of irons and they launch high like the kbs tour but with a lot less spin.  It's great for someone who is looking to get the ball up in the air with low spin.  I get better dispersion with MMT, but the recoil protos are very underrated IMO.

I have a set of Protos yet to be installed, the plan being to use them with my MP37s.  Since the 37s hit a bit lower, I thought it could be a good use for the Proto; going a bit higher won't be a problem with them.

 

With other sets, going higher might not be such a win for me.  😉

 

The review comment I'd read from Russ Ryden (of Golf Shaft Reviews) mentioned him finding a degree higher launch with 1k lower spin.  It comes with the usual caveat of individuals all responding to shafts differently, but knowing the potential is there is a positive.

I played $ tapers in stiff and then my elbows started to hurt and my swing speed also started to slow a tad.

way firmer than the nvs x version in 100g
