Huntington Beach SOFT Putters

Recommended Posts

I've searched a bit here for reviews on the Huntington Beach SOFT putters and found a few older threads about them.  The seem to be a great putter for the $.  Since they've been out a while now, what have been your experiences with this line of putters?  Make sure to post which model you went with.  Any and all input would be much appreciated!

Currently using a Huntington Beach SOFT 11s. Lovely putter. If you have a non-insert preference, this is a great putter. To me, its in the same range as scotty from a feel perspective, but probably slightly softer.  The fit and finish of the putter as received from Cleveland was spot on and the price is hard to beat.  I've putted well with it and I think some of that is dude to the mallet shape and some forgiveness when I'm not out of the middle.

I would second this!  As a Ping guy, I really wanted to like the Sigma Tyne, but the HB SOFT 11 gives me a better feel with the same results at a lesser price.

Excellent putters with great feel. The stock grips are pretty good. I have the Frontline elevado and a HB soft 11 which I switch up.

I echo this 100%.  I own the Soft 11s as well and have compared it directly to a SC 5w and several other putters.   I think the 11s sounds better, feels better and looks better.  The head is about as long as the SC 5w but the fins are shorter and the leading edge "block" is thinner or narrower than the cameron.  I think the 11s is superior in every way...except I think thw finish leaves a little to be desired. The finish is darker and duller.  If it had the same stainless finish as a cameron, it would be perfect.

I tried some of these during my search for a new putter - I don't remember which variants but I thought they all felt fantastic and performed very well. I couldn't get a #4, so I kept looking, but once the supply chain improves to my part of the world I'll definitely consider buying one to add to my putter collection. I was very, very impressed.

I am in the process of looking for a center shafted putter so I tried these today in my local store. Currently a Bettinardi user and ex Scotty Cameron. Budget is not a problem personally so I can always go for high end putters (including circle T) but the performance was best with HUNTINGTON BEACH SOFT PREMIER 10.5C PUTTER. I am seriously considering putting this into the bag as this is the front runner currently.

Edit: Just checked. Unfortunately doesn't come in 33" so might have to find something else. But excellent putter for the price.

I've got the HB Soft 11. I got fit, and didn't believe it. Like the poster above somewhere. After the fitting, I went and hit about 30 different putters, and it turned out that the HB was the best.

I've played about 20 rounds with it, and I absolutely love it. It's incredibly soft, and the milling pattern really helps consistency on mishits. I thoroughly endorse it. And at $150, it doesn't break the bank.

Recently putted with Scotty's, Bettis, and Mizuno's the same day. The gear head in me badly wanted a Betti, then maybe Scotty just because, ya know, Scotty. What did I end up with? Huntington Beach Premier 3. Feel wise the HB may have been the best. Soft but very solid. Was beautifully balanced. I loved the weight. SOFT worked as marketed on mishits. Then I saw the price tag and it was a no brainer. The premier looks awesome too.

I impulse-bought a HB #11s today. I have been using an Anser and wanted a bit more MOI, but I tend to not like really large putters like the Craz-E or Spider because I always drag that big body on the turf on the way back.

I'm glad I had the chance to putt with both the 34" and 35" in the store. I normally like my putters shorter, but I like the 35" better in the #11. I think it changes my arm/shaft geometry in a way that will be helpful on shorter putts.

I was also putting well with the Two-Ball Triple Track and it felt like a higher-MOI blade to me. It just looks so cheap to me. My hangup I suppose. The Cleveland looks much more refined.

Yeah, today was my first round with my #11 and I like it but the skinny grip will likely get replaced. I’m going to practice with it more first just because I haven’t used a really skinny grip in a while and ya never know. I sort of like the slimmer Super Stroke-style grip on my Anser Sigma 2, and though I’ve used mostly 33-34” putters for a few years I want to spend some time with the 35” shaft before I change it.

As for the HB#11 head it seems easy enough to align and stroke. I left a lot of putts short today but that was more from slow bumpy sanded greens.

Mine is a Premier 11S (slant). Too new to comment on durability.

I just installed a Super Stroke Pistol GT 1.0 with a 50g counterweight. This smoothed out the stroke for me. The 370g head and light stock grip made it feel quite head-heavy.

Been gaming an evnroll er5b, but picked one up a 11s soft premier as I preferred a milled face. Gonna slap a 2.0 type grip and pit it up against the evn and a las Vegas 7 for that sacred spot in the bag

I want to replace my spider with a blade and went to test putters figuring I’d likely buy an ODYSSEY or a Ping. I saw the Premier #4 and half-heartedly picked it up and started putting with it. Feels great. Felt better than the odyssey and Ping. Totally forgot to try the mizuno putter. I was really surprised by the Cleveland and can’t beat the price. If it was a Ping I probably would have bought it today.

I’m not a Scotty guy; just don’t see the value.

No regrets on the HB #11S so far. I added a Superstroke with a 50g counterweight. Digging it.

I pick up a HB soft 4 last year with a Superstroke installed.  Liked it pretty much, but I think I need to cut it down and go with a more standard grip size.  For the money, these can't be beat.

Love hearing these great post about the HB 11s. I pulled the trigger on one last night, should be hear by Friday. I’ve been eye balling a SC 5.5 or the Ping PDL Tyne 4 but this price is to good. I had a chance to roll the HB 10.5 and thought the feeling was amazing. The 11s head style is what I’ve always been drawn to.

The HB 11, double-bend, face balanced, feels fantastic and I found it easier to align that the Ping Tyne - also prefer the short "wings" out back.  A bit of a more companct high MOI putter.  Not a fan a fan of the fatter factory grip, so replaced it with a standard size Evnroll tour pistol.  Lightly used and in mint condition, it was a no brainer for $50 from the used section.  Have alway been a fan of the Cleveland putter back to the milled KG (Ken Giannini), Designed by 8802 style and TA Milled versions.  Putting is about feel, no space-age polymer inserts need apply.
