Switched from i210s to ZX7s. I went from being able to hit my irons to being awful with these

Can anybody help me out with why this happened? The i210s treated me well but the new ZX7s looked so pretty to me so i switched them. I regret trading to a different set of clubs. I can’t make clean contact with these irons for the life of me.

Any more details for constructive feedback?  Same shafts and length in both sets? How many rounds with the zx7s?

I used the i210s for a year and a half. Both regular flex same length. Grips all the same. I used the ZX7s for about 8 rounds so far. I can’t hit these for s***.

I can only suggest that the sole design might not be for you.

Sole design? Hmm i will have to look into it. I can’t get along with these irons. I think I’m going crazy. I’ve never played this bad with any irons I’ve ever owed. Are these super unforgiving or something? I had zero problems with the i210s. Anything similar to the i210s?

Shafts play a role and Srixon measures differently so maybe they are too long.

The i210s are just way too hard to track down now. I’m not waiting 3 months from ping. I feel like i took 3 steps back this year for my game when i got these new irons

I believe the Modus launches lower than the XP, and the ZX7 might have a higher CG than the i210.  That combination would make a huge difference.

Those shafts are pretty different and the Zx7 is less forgiving in longer irons. That’s my opinion.

What percentage of your bad shots are not from the tee?

I would say this is more likely the problem than the heads. Are they the 105s or the 120s?

Shaft is the issue. I had modus 120s and lost my game until I got clubs restarted with s400s

Srixon sole does not work for me at all. I used to be steeper into the ball, but really worked on getting more neutral over the winter. That v sole is great for the diggers.

What prompted the change?

 

Zx7's seem to get universal praise, so they aren't the problem ... that's for sure.

The soles are not for everyone  and there have been more than a few expressing this view in the plethora of Srixon threads.

All speculation without a close look at you swinging them, but I would check build length and be sure it is the same. Even 1/4 inch makes a difference for some guys. After that, I’d guess it is how you are feeling the two shafts. XP95 is going to feel a little lighter and quicker through impact. Easier to feel the loading of the XP95. The Modus 105 is really low torque, and that translates into feel. It kind of feels siffer than it is, even though it is light weight. You might be squaring the clubface better with one shaft more than the other. A monitor will tell you. 

Besides the overall weight difference with the slightly heavier Modus shaft, are the swing weights the same?

Both are high bounce but with different soles. Ping is your standard Ping sole with nice camber. You either like the Srixon v-sole or you don’t. Guys who love it really love it. Those who don’t often feel like they’re hitting them a groove or two low. 

 

All told, the i210 is also more forgiving overall IMO.

Offset ? The I210’s at least from my Eye have More offset then the ZX7’s plus like stated earlier the Soles are different! Have you compared the Specs of the clubs ? Eg bounce might be different ?

I had two different sets of i210s and frankly I should have held on to the second set (changed from steel to graphite). I hit them pretty well. Went to HMPs because...well...shiny new toys. Never did get on with them. Have been working with a ZX5 7i and have finally figured out that will work for me so I'm waiting on the rest of the short irons. It may be the narrower sole of the ZX7 that is problematic for you. I also have a ZX7 8i coming to experiment with but I'm nuts.

 

I would have ordered another set of i210s but they are back ordered until like 2037 or something.

A friend of mine had some Srixons and struggled with the v grind them come in, he just wasnt as crisp with his iron game.

Slice of humble pie. Probably not the right move if you aren’t consistent in the strike going from the pings to srixons. Honestly surprised you felt you could top the performance. Srixons are probably going to be more demanding compared to the pings. Like others have said, it’s probably the shaft, try maybe the dynamic gold 105 s300 or those XP’s. 
practice them foundational skills and try to see if you could make them work. You might have gotten the wrong side of the new club syndrome and might be able to trick your mind with the basics
