I was surprised by how short it played yesterday, a lot of very short irons into the par 4s.  Given the precision required that's not a bad thing, just a little surprising.

Extraordinary ball striking by both Brooke and Lexi; they could both set new course record if their putters cooperate.

 

It'd be only fitting if both stay in contention until late afternoon on Sunday.

@18majors ... she didn't have her best game with her yesterday -- at least as it pertains to her driving.  Her short game was otherworldly ... how many times did she get up and down to save par!  Anyway, she now has her coach on the bag for today ... I suspect to help her feel more comfortable about herself and keep her mentally in a better frame of mind about her swing.

 

She just cannot continue getting off of the tee poorly and expect to make the cut.

I's not a Brooke Henderson fan earlier in her career, but she won over me over the years.  She could certainly be the "Tiger" of LPGA if she ramps her winning speed by a factor of two in regular tournaments and a factor of three in majors.

Yeah ... one of the best feature groups in a long time.  This group is just fun to watch!  Whether it be the exceptional driving, ball striking or Patty's phenomenal short game.

6,361 yards is about the equivalent to men's yardage of 7,483 yards. 

 

Just for reference the listed yardage for the men's U S Open there in 2012 was 7,170 yards

The emperor wears no clothes; Lydia's driver is overmatched by the course.  She'd a double and a bogey in four holes.

Based purely on scanning the full leaderboard it looks as if the course is playing tougher this morning.

Danielle Kang, +1, didn't schedule to play until this afternoon; but she moved from T41 to T35 without doing a thing.

So far, it's playing about a stroke and half harder than it did yesterday. Today, holes 2-5 are currently the 4 hardest holes on the course and only the 8th holes is playing under par.

The course was set up a little longer today too.  not much, but it could be significant as they reshuffle the tee boxes, etc.

This course is about precision and always has been, take less club hit it shorter and be in the fairway as much as humanly possible😃
