Wedgeworks - TT DG Tour Issue Shafts?

LSR6

Recommended Posts

I was planning to order some wedges from wedgeworks with the true temper dynamic gold tour issue shafts, but have checked (over the course of the past month) and that shaft option is no longer available.

Does anyone know why?  Curious if this is a covid shortage and it’s just back ordered (and that’s why it’s not listed as an option).

I ordered some s400 TI onyx through a seller on ebay (tqg) and they arrived pretty quick, considering I'm in canada. He appears to sell x100 TI and other shaft as well, maybe he has the shaft you're looking for ?

Worth a try 🤷‍♂️

Back order situation with true temper, yet can still order the ‘standard’ s400 through wedgeworks without the huge label 🤔

Because the non sexy label ones aren't within the .5g weight sort.  I can't think that many would actually order straight S400s if ordering through wedgeworks so makes sense they would have them in stock.

I still don't get why some people are willing to pay $$$ for Tour Issue DG which really are weight sorted DG to within half a gram.  DG are based on the original Dynamic shafts which are an 80 year old design that are weight sorted to within a few grams.

I really doubt most people can't feel the difference of half a gram in their steel shafts let alone a few grams.  I guess they are willing to pay $$$ for that wide label on their shafts instead of getting a bunch of DG S400s or X100s weigh them on a digital scale and sort those out themselves.

Cleveland is having the same issue, can’t order DG S400 regular or tour issue in the new zip core wedges.  I’ve been checking for the last 6 or so weeks.  Almost went Nippon 125 wedge but now those aren’t on the site either.  I’m assuming it’s a Covid back order situation.  I’ll wait, I can’t tell the difference between regular or your issue but I know I like S400 in my wedges, and I’m not in any rush.

Thanks for the prompt responses. Figured this was a covid issue.

Though I don’t need to explain myself, I figure that over the 100 rounds or more that I’ll get out of my wedges, the $25 up charge is worth purchasing a product that is tested to a tighter tolerance.  I care about my game and my equipment and the difference of $0.25 or less per round (assuming 100 rounds) is worth it to me.

Don’t buy it if you don’t want to.

I’ve gone back and forth on it over time. Your explanation stands with good logic, IMO.

They are your clubs so if you think that it's worth it, then it's worth it. You will get more than 100 rounds out of a wedge anyway, so it's probably even cheaper than the scenario you describe. Every OEM and retailer is struggling to keep up with demand because golf is one of the few sports benefitting from COVID. I know I just ordered a 60B grind limited edition 1-2 weeks ago and the grip options were limited. They had a lot of the Vokey branded grips still in stock but that's it.

What I will say about the TI issue is that I ordered a Vokey T grind in the standard S200 and I couldn't be more happy with it. I don't think the standard DG tolerances are significant enough to be a concern. The grip you choose will have a larger effect on weight than the shaft tolerances.

Obviously it's your decision, just thought I'd offer a different perspective.

I agree that it's entirely possible to weight sort standard DG and achieve the exact same or perhaps better tolerances.  If I were a clubmaker and had a large selection of shafts to do that with I would.  But I don't trust OEMs or even a local club fitter to do that.  So I'll spend the extra to have some of that guesswork taken out for me.  Can I tell....most likely not.  But it's a small upcharge to pay to not "wonder".

I'm going to rain on your parade a bit. I have two black tour issue Dynamic Gold 115 wedge shafts. They weigh 113.7 grams and 114.9 grams. The only way to to get tour issue specs is to weigh them yourself.

TT Tour Issue are spec'd within their set, not individually.

I've seen many times the steppings don't even match across TI wedge shafts (37"), brand new shafts.

Even if the weight is the same, by the time it's cut down, epoxied gripped etc... That weight tolerance is pretty much gone.

That's why they will build several of the same club then choose the one they like.

Everybody relax, I’m here

Neither does the guy in this post so not sure why he's all for paying more to advertise for TT to get the same shaft.
