Jekyll and Hyde round

Golf is such a weird game. Shot 86 Saturday, which is about average for me....yesterday? 52-40 for 92. Where did 52 come from? Well, struggled off the tee on the front. Had a 9 and a 7 on the card, ouch... Back nine? 5 pars.  Golf......sigh.

So let's hear it. What was your greatest stroke difference between 9 holes in the SAME round? This is mine...12 strokes difference between the front and the back.

Something my Dad told me recently that really resonated with me was getting out to the range before your round to work those kinks out if you notice a better back 9 than front. Said it could just be you really finally get warm on the back, or at least it's part of it.

As for the biggest difference.... Opened up with a cool 50 on the front and followed it up with a 40 on the back a couple weeks back.

I think I fired a 61-37 at Bear Trace Tims Ford one time.

I ordered 3 double jack and cokes at the turn (I almost never drink on the golf course). It was a strange day.

Probably over memorial day wkend, shot 2 over on the front and 10 over on the back.  After the front 9 I thought i was going to shoot even par lol.

Didnt lose a single ball but driver on the front 9 was incredible, couldn't miss fairway.  Back 9 I still didn't lose a ball but ended up spraying into native grasses on a few holes.  From there your only option is to hack out into fairway basically like taking a penalty lol.

54-32. Back when I was a scratch and played a tourney nearly every week. Carded a 15 on the par 4 third (hit 5 consecutive shots ob off a hanging lie). Walking to the 10th one of my playing partners told me " you'll never respect yourself if you don't break 90". Smooth 32 coming in. The worst of it was while I was warming up on the range at the next week's event I could hear guys talking about the "dude who took a 15 on a hole last week"....

I've had a few rounds where I shoot 39-44 then follow up with a 48-55. I wouldn't mind a 39-48 but it's usually a lower front and a sky high back.

I might catch a little heat for this, but on my son's life it is a 100% true story (from my much younger, much better days).

29 (-7) on the front

38 (+4) on the back

So card wise, it's a 9 shot difference, but in relation to par it's 11.  News of the 29 made it to the clubhouse after the turn.  That was sheepish walk back in after 18.

Yesterday first time in 30 years I was level par (36 strokes) through 9 holes (demanding course), then wind picked up and all my drives on the back nine were horrible, shot a nice 51 with no pars….but you know what it did not matter, I played so nicely for 9 holes. Now I have to practice hitting my damn driver again. LOL

Shot a 90 on Saturday.  40-50.  Double bogied the first 2 holes then made par on the next 7 for a 40 on the front.  On the back I had to make sure I got just as many doubles for the round as I did pars, so 6 more doubles, 1 par and 2 bogeys to round off the back and a 50.  I blame being tired, this was the 4th day in a row I walked 18 on my hilly course and I push mowed my lawn before going out.  By the turn my knees were not happy, but I pushed on.

Happens all the time to me, I guess that is what separates we mortals from the elites. Keeping it all together for 18 holes is just plain hard, I can't imagine having to do it over 4 rounds for my paycheck.
