Can we talk about the "sad" emoji here?

OK, i need to get this off my chest.

 

WRX as many of you know updated the feedback/"like" process here some time ago. We now have the option of 5 different emojis:

 

1) "The heart": The heart is very self explanatory, I LOVE this post! It makes sense

2) "The Trophy": A bit like the heart, but i think this is more reserved for truly amazing posts, like most of the ones written by me

3) "The haha face": Again, very self explanatory. That post made me laugh and i want to convey that to the poster

4) "The Confused Face": Getting a bit into grayer waters here. But i get it, sometimes you might be confused by something and the Emoji does legit look like a confused face

5) "The Sad Face": Let's discuss this

 

The Sad Face Emoji doesn't really look only sad. It's kind of a hilarious combination of fear, dread, tears, confusion, and possibly many other things. It's a flat out hilarious emoji whenever i see it. Every time i see it i actually want to laugh.

 

To me, the sad face emoji is just perfect for when , for example, a new poster comes in and for example, rips on a company for not selling him ferrules. Or basically anything Jonesscott would have started back in the day. Or a thread where someone is angry because he thinks he bought tees made out of counterfeit wood. Because the face conveys somewhat of a hilarious dread face--more than sadness

 

If i wasn't one suspension away from a free submarine sandwich here. I would use the sad emoji a LOT more. It's a hilarious looking emoji.

I think I interpret the sad emoji the same way you do, but correct me if I'm wrong.

 

To me it's more of like a "pity party" reaction. Sort of a sarcastic "boohoo I feel sooo sorry for you" type of thing if that makes sense.

 

It's basically my way of conveying to them that I think they are an idiot for being angry or upset about whatever it is they are complaining about.

I would like to use the sad emoji more, but I hate making people feel bad with an emoji. Instead, I'll write a complicated and lengthy post to make them both confused and feeling bad. 

 

I mean, at least I put in some effort. Gotta respect that.

Sad emoji looks like someone farted.  Or worse.

I want to see an angry 😡 emoji.  Let me have it.  The sad one is Just confusing.  I haven’t found the need to use it much.  And it seems like an insult when facing an actual sad post.

I have a friend at work, we're always on these group TEAMS chats now since we all work from home. One day we just started "angry" emoji'ing each others comments on the chats just to mess with people.

 

Like i'd ask him, did you get that report done?

Yes

 

And then i'd angry emoji the yes. It took a few days before people started asking questions but to us it was hilarious

Yep. I have one of those buddies.  We regularly will call each other really bad things during a round.  But we both are in on the joke. MaKes others uncomfortable…. Which is why it’s funny.  To us   😂.

It was before my time here, but I read that there was a thumbs down or another “dislike” option. Believe they did away with it because it was hurting ppls feelings. Probably the same reason the ‘reputation score’ number by members user names went away. We are all equals and not here to hurt anyone’s feelings 😊
