regarding the grips, when i was there a couple weeks ago, he literally said if we have it we can put it on for you.  i know they had all the garsens with the different tapers.  I went to my usual boring grip, PP58 blacked out with three wraps

So I spoke with Jeff yesterday in regards to my Tyne being sent in. Was a little bummed to hear they are not welding neck but epoxy. Stated they use aluminum hosels to not change center of gravity. Will report more when it comes back.

I'm curious how this will work.  I was wondering what would be used if it was recommended to go with Slight Arc and I've considered a plumbers neck.  I have a lot in mind regarding material, sight lines, weight, shaft, etc.

Yes pingman corded is included.

 

FYI I asked if they could source Best Grips, but they were not able to.  Even reached out to the tour van to see if they had any on hand.

I was also considering Golf Pride Tour SNSR Straight, so I hope they'll have that as a possibility.

i had somehting similar come up in my fitting, but the finish is what brought it up.   I wanted the patina finish, but the neck was either raw aluminum or black,  i got the same response, they dont want to add too much weight in the neck, so they use aluminum.  To be honest, i dont know if it's noticiable, the head is pretty big, the neck is relatively small and you are looking amlost straitght down on it.

Yeah I’m nervous now because my head is already patina so I’m gonna have a hosel that doesn’t match.

i had my virtual fitting with jeff yesterday.

 

anser 2, glazed donut finish, 365g head weight, sight dot, naked back flange, pingman mid corded grip.

 

i'm doing some custom stamping on the sole (putter specs on the heel side, kids' names on the toe side)

 

i can use a little help on the paint fill though.  do you guys think black or white paint fill would look better?  this is for the ping in the back cavity, the dot, and the pld on the face.

This is the part I'm having difficulty with.  I have a lot of ideas for the specs, but the stamping is something I'm really unsure of.  I want it to be unique but not overdone.  I'd hate for it to be too busy but I'd still like to pay homage to Karsten and PING without it being too much.

that’s the only custom stamping i’m doing. and i’m keeping it on the sole so the putter keeps a clean look. 

 

the sole stamping is gonna be without paint fill. 

 

just can’t figure out if i want the paint fill on the rest to be white or black.

If you're open to color...I think that blues, reds, greens look SO good on the glazed donut finish. I got that finish with green paint and it's a great look. To me...the warmth of that finish just begs for something that doesn't contrast it as much as black and white.

my putter has the same exact setup as yours. naked flange, sight dot, weight in the bumpers. such a clean, clean putter. 

 

i just can’t do colors. anything i like now i’d be bored of in a year and i want this putter in my bag for a long time. 

 

yours looks great and has me so excited for mine to come.

Nope! I can't speak to aftermarket/non-Ping grips, but the price tag is all-inclusive.

Also, I did the PLD on the face just with the "finish" color...so no fill at all.  It comes out darker than the finish and doesn't "lighten" the same way the donut or oyster does otherwise.  

 

You don't have to fill it at all, but IMO, white would probably look better than black on donut...

it’s hard to argue with how good the stock photos of the donut finish looks with the white paint fill in the cavity. 

 

i considered leaving the PLD on the face unfilled.

I had my in person fitting today. The EXPERIENCE was amazing. 

 

The part I enjoyed the most was spending time outside on the putting green. We hit putts from all distances, breaks, up/down hill etc. I was shocked to see the dramatic difference alignment lines have on aim/roll in real world conditions. I learned that I putt best with no alignment aid, or top line only. Anything in the flange caused me to consistently aim & miss left. Learning that was worth the $200 fitting fee by itself. 

 

I'm still contemplating if I'll order the putter. My specs are dead stock so paying $1K for something I can buy off the rack is a tough decision. I saw zero performance gains compared to my gamer so in my case the purchase would be more sentimental/novelty. However, if you have unique specs, want custom engravings, have a face milling preference etc, going this route is a no brainer. I wouldn't even think twice. I would purchase a Ping in a heartbeat. 

 

Overall, I loved everything about the fitting. Every aspect exceeded my expectations. Kudos to Ping for making this experience available to the general public. For 2.5 hours I felt like a tour pro, and loved every second.

Is the Anser X the same width as a regular Anser? Looks a touch wider. 

 

I like the look and finish on this one for sure.

It is a touch wider, without tungsten came out to 355g

That's not bad at all the Anser D is just too heavy this one looks like a good size but probably doesn't come in other necks.

Alright guys color me wrong!!! Ping guys know what they are talking about. This thing feels amazing and so much easier to line up. The graphite shaft is bad a** and the color difference really doesn’t bother me like I thought it would.
