Ping PLD Custom Program

They will walk you through all the options available, and bend over backwards to get you what you want. In my case, they ended up sandblasting an aluminum plumbers neck hosel to match the finish of the tour satin head on the DS 72.  Perfection. Good luck!

their customer service has always been top notch, kinda weird to say, but $1300 sounds like a bargain.  When i bought my circle T a few years back, the gallery staff seemed annoyed that i asked to see multiple putters.  

 

did any of you take a tour while you were there?  I was wondering if they allowed the public into the gold putter vault

They definitely let you in the vault, they will even take your picture for you.  I didn't really take a tour though. Think the wrx department was under construction.

They don’t offer those shaft options but they will put one in for you if you supply it.

I love this - it looks amazing!!  Is the Valor one of the standard head options now, or did you somehow talk them into making it?

Mentioned that I add a ton of lead tape to my head traditionally and the valor 400 came up.

Skimmed through most of the posts but don’t see anyone getting a sound slot or rounded bumpers like an original anser or 009? Are those custom options?

That shape is more of their Dale Anser vs Anser so if that comes out you'll see more rounded bumpers. 

 

Sound slot I have no idea.

Out of the blue I received a nice leather valuables pouch from PING. Touch of class from them for my purchase. The putter was 100% worth it.

So...I tried searching for what I'm posting in this topic so as not to repeat anyone, but I couldn't find anything. 

 

But...fun thing I noticed on the PLD Custom cover...it's a map of Phoenix and the pepper is PING hq. Kind of neat!

Putters arrived a couple of weeks ago, just hadn’t had the time to post any pictures. 
 

Ping were fantastic, they had the local sales rep meet me to hand them over to save me the 3 hour drive. 
 

Both are stunning & well balanced as you would expect, haven’t been out on the course yet but should be happening soon.

How much time after your fitting do you have to place an order? Can you order a few days/week later or need to pull the trigger right away? I know for a fact I will get paralysis by analysis 😀.

You do not need to purchase right away. I personally did not purchase at all and was told my records would stay on file if I changed my mind down the road. They are not pushy at all.

A big thank you for everyone who contributed to this thread because you gave me a lot to think about before committing to the program.  After some hemming and hawing, I decided to go for it and scheduled my virtual fitting with Alex on December 23. The questionnaire was insightful and I answered it to the best of my ability. Having written that, I'm finding that this process is both exciting and a bit scary as I've never been fit for a putter before and hope that I'll be able have a dialogue that is both engaging and eye-opening in order to give me a greater understanding about my tendencies and needs.

 

Again, many thanks to all who spoke up about their experiences.  It's very much appreciated.

Alex is awesome, I had my fitting on Friday and was enlightened.   I’ll recap my experience early this week when I get home
