The issue with NBC this time of year is that they begin their portion of NASCAR coverage and an increase in racing coverage on both NBC and USA. For instance look at the racing coverage NBC is showing on their main networks. The new commissioner of the LPGA just can't wave a magic wand and get more television coverage for television contacts that are signed through 2030.

The above said the Peacock streaming service that Xfinity/Comcast/NBC keeps pushing could easily provide for more LPGA streaming coverage this week even while also streaming the Champions Tour. There is literally no reason they couldn't have both. I mean they have unlimited resources and bandwidth to stream anything,

The only downside is that all the golf on Peacock requires a subscription. If it’s additional coverage that we wouldn’t otherwise get then okay, it’s not a loss for the majority of viewers who wouldn’t pay. But putting it on a channel that basically all cable and OTT subscriptions have like USA would be preferable.

Agreed. And I've said here multiple times that the LPGA deserves more television coverage without a doubt. 

 

However when NBC Sports already has existing long term contracts with NASCAR, Indy Car, IMSA, Premier League soccer, ice skating, Olympics, rugby, dog shows, et al that have signed contracts for years, draw higher ratings, NBC paid higher rights fees for, charge more for commercials and has a higher ROI than the LPGA on NBC, USA, etc what's the LPGA realistically to do? They are stuck in a television contract until 2030 that Mike Whan allowed when the LPGA entered in to a partnership with the PGA Tour that included the new television contracts.

 

A contract in which the LPGA received an increase in television revenues and tv air time but that the PGA Tour took most of the revenues (90+ percent). Loss for Whan and the LPGA. This article explains it. Unfortunately it's behind a paywall.

NBC/Comcast made a huge mistake in getting rid of NBCSN. I understand why they did so as to promote Peacock but it appears to not have been a good decision. Unless people want to pay for the service.

Looking forward to this on the weekend. Always enjoy watching the LPGA as the game they play is much more relatable to me - somewhat a marker for my game in terms of distances and club selections. So much more to learn and admire when compared to the mens side of things.

I say all the time the LPGA has to buy all the equipment and hire the people and create there own content.  Sure, the cost is expensive but they actually pay the networks right now to cover them, so.  There maybe a contract till 2030 so use it as streaming service where you work out the bugs and you provide off network coverage and maybe do weekly featured groups each round.  I'm pretty sure the PGA (league) and not "of America" negotiated the contract, so if they complain about starting a streaming service get the girls to hit the TV saying how a men's league is trying to hold them back and the player would freak with that kind of image and Jay Monnahan is already fighting with  his image and he'd crumple like wet paper.  The only problem IMO Mollie seems more to want to be in the boys club rather than do what's best to grow the tour.  I may have gripped about Whan but I could always watch the same content in Canada as they do in the US, under Mollie's rule that was the first change.

As far as I know, there is no online streaming. Peacock will be showing the same stuff as the NBC broadcast on the weekend.

I woke up this morning and the top of my left foot hurts whenever I put weight on the ball of it. Popped a couple Excedrin, hopefully it'll be fine by my 1:23 tee time. If nothing else, I can short of shuffle that foot forward without flexing it when I walk. Maybe the fact I have to wear waterproof golf shoes today, the shoes will help provide some support. 😬

If you can see the scoring look a players going through the 9th, it's already slow and with some of the numbers being posted on that hole, it's also really gonna slow things down.

I'm not sure if the walking scorer that inputs the score for the website but the one scoring Nelly/Brooke/Inbee might have come to work drunk lol.  All 3 scoring total and the score of each hole, completely changed for the 3 of them on the 10th hole lol

After winning her major, what has she done besides do well at the match play last year and miss a bunch of cuts ? I guess she will be riding that exemption til the wheels fall off.

She did reasonably well for nearly 12 months after her open win, but since the middle of last year she has kind of fallen off a cliff

That is true, I'm thinking the '21 Match Play was the last time she was competitive.

In Gee played solid at the rain soaked Evian when she won her 2nd major. She seems to play well in wet conditions. 'Nice to see Dean on her bag. He was her caddie when she won the USWO. He brings a ton of experience.
