I always quite liked him and his game, and feel a bit sorry for him.... But jeez he is hard to defend.

The thing is, if it wasn't for his garbage personality, I think a lot of people would like him. He has a super simple/clean swing, his short game is insanely good, he's super competitive and clutch at times (see Ryder Cup). His Ryder Cap match vs Rory was an all timer. It's almost amazing how quickly he's destroyed all the goodwill from his "Capt. America" days.

100% agree. He was one of the only ones to go for the green in two at 15 and deservedly won. 
 

Must be some sort of self destruct thing.

Agreed, there is a lot to like when you remove that actual person and his behavior from the equation. He is deadly with a wedge or putter in his hand and I love how he putts like he's irritated the ball isn't already in the hole. He just has the Luke Donald problem of being both short AND crooked off the tee these days.

As far as destroying goodwill and self destructing, honestly I think it's simply that he doesn't really care. Whatever his priorities are in life, being liked/likeable clearly isn't one of them. Interviews having him being another one of those obsessive loner competitors the just lives to play the game and doesn't care about much else.

• Reed, now with LIV Golf, had filed a $750 million suit alleging that the commentator and network had tried to destroy his reputation for years.

 

Patrick Reed has dropped his lawsuit against Golf Channel and analyst Brandel Chamblee.

The 2018 Masters champion pulled his $750 million suit in a Texas federal court in a filing Wednesday night. The court action was reported by the Athletic.

Reed, who joined LIV Golf, alleged that Chamblee and the network had been "actively targeting Reed since he was 23 years old, to destroy his reputation, create hate, and a hostile work environment for him, and with the intention to discredit his name and accomplishments as a young, elite, world-class golfer."

 

 

Seems PR is finally listening to the right people. At least in regard to the lawsuit.

I've long been a fan of Reed as a golfer. I like his swing. I like the way he flights and shapes his iron shots. I especially like his short game - maybe the best hands in the game right now. I never ever would have thought he was this stupid.

 

I don't care who really has their foot on the throttle with this lawsuit, for him to even be associated with this, is really stupid on his part. This isn't the WWF in the 80's, there is nothing to gain by being this much of a heel.

For anyone who watches golf, especially the golf channel, since Patrick came around knows how much those guys bashed on him, made him out to be a monster from day one, and turned the GC reporting into TMZ. Go after all of them particularly Damon Hack, who's nothing but a hack and a semi/full on-moron. Can he win, I don't know but shame on all those guys, especially Brandel, even though I love him and find him the most enjoyable and educational one to watch.

Speaking to the foot on the throttle line, when this lawsuit first made the news, part of me thought the upstart league that shall remain nameless may have been behind it for some propaganda type reason. But, I don't know, yeesh...I'm not sure they are that stupid either. You may have hit the nail on the head, Reed is gonna wear this one, and by association magnify all of his other picadillo's.  He should do himself a favor and quit while he's behind.

That man is retired machinist and former WRX member, Gene Cowley. 

 

Gene never bought into mulligans, breakfast balls, inside the rubber gimmes, winter rules, the golf hall of fame, two tie-all tie or equitable stroke control.  He stood up for everything that was right and honest about golf.  He also stood up against the likes of Patrick Reed.  Gene spent his entire work life relying on quality measurements, therefore he felt that a person's true character should be measured on on how that man or woman conducted business on a golf course.
