My 10.5° 430 Max head weighs in at 203g with the standard 25g backweight. Did you weigh your backweight?  Was yours a Japanese release purchase?  I heard those come in lighter.

No , this came from Ping through my local rep .....I didn't check the backweight ....

I’ve been playing a 10.5* G430 Max with HZRDUS Black most of this season, and it has been excellent. I’ve really wanted to try the Tour Black 65, and recently picked one up. What an excellent shaft. Just as stable as the HZRDUS Black, but smoother and better feel. Easier to turn over.

Do give the Tour Black 65 a try if you have not. Much better than the Tour Chrome IMHO. YMMV.

After chopping and changing drivers earlier in the season, super glad I settled on the LST. Its been the best golf purchase of 2024 for me

So 10.5 seemed short and spinny last round....brought to store to measure spin and distance....really disparaging.....put a demo 9* lst on my shaft and gained 15yds .....perplexed by gains , I weighted both heads ....

the 10.5 came in light and the 9 head was 206 !! Anyone with these types of findings ? 20230911_132755.jpg.24d826cf060f5ede9f5703bd9331d152.jpg

Gifted my nephew a G430MAX driver for his 30th birthday.  Such a cool uncle.  😁

He recently told me he shot 79 which he hasn't done since high school.    He said he was missing some wild drives with his TM driver that ruined his score so I got him a fix.   😎

How many of you guys are playing the LST model with the stock weight from Ping? How many of you have purchased a lighter weight? I'm coming from the TSR3 and will most likely be reducing from stock weight.

Any feedback from those who have?

Stock weight for me but I have always preferred a heavy feeling head throughout the bag, wedges to driver.

Dropped the weight on my LST down to the 13g slider. Needed that adjustment to get it playing D3 @ 45in. I haven’t noticed any difference in terms of forgiveness when comparing stock vs lighter weight, but anecdotally I feel I get more launch/higher peak height at the lighter swing weight.

I originally tried the LST during my fitting but didn't buy it because I was worried it would be too unforgiving and got the Max. I just found out about the U try program with Global and got a 10.5 LST sent. I have a dilemma now, I feel like I can hit both equally well and LST didn't seem unforgiving at all. I really like the way the LST looks, I actually prefer the feel of the Max as it felt more explosive off the face. I don't have a reference for distance as I was hitting it at the range but they seemed similar between 10.5 LST and 9 Max. I'm not sure if I want to take a loss selling the Max to switch to an LST.

I have ended up with both Max and LST heads after tinkering this season, and for the moment I just see myself keeping both and swapping out to whatever I am hitting better at that stretch of time.

I have always preferred the LST heads and they definitely provide me more distance than the Max, but the Max can just straight up find fairways seemingly anywhere I hit it on the face. If my swing is on point, the LST is my choice.

My problem now is the LST 3 wood is pushing up on the Max’s distance…

Agreed wholeheartedly......I'm not long or high launch yet this 3ti has been a joy !!! Deck or tee , the 3ti gives me another weapon.....

How would you guys compare the lst vs the S2+ in terms of distance, launch/height and forgiveness?

I have Ventus Blue TR 7TX in the Paradym TD and couldn’t close the face. I don’t know if it’s a shaft deal or the head. I have Ventus Black 6TX with ping tip but I just think it’s a little too light.

Glad to see someone else in a Ventus Red with the LST. I was fit into the Kai’li black and struggled turning it over. This head with the Ventus red has been so reliable.

I only had 5 wd in S2+ but completely different shafts .... truth be told the PING sets up better to my eye and I found a more stable shaft so kinda unfair

I intentionally ordered my LST and Max at a lighter swingweight (specifically requested D1 swingweights in a 45" build with less hot melt than Ping typically uses) so I can tinker more with the backweight.  I have a backweight in every weight Ping makes to tinker.  Currently playing a 25 in the LST and 31 in the Max.  Using Ventus shafts (heavier than my previous Smoke RDX and Ping Tour stuff). When I get a chance  (not a ton of time here and the nearest course is 25 minutes away) I'm going to try heavier weights.  Just trying to fine tune now.

Gotcha, good to know regardless! @Redbird did you have the 3w in the S2+? If so, how did they compare in distance, launch/height and forgiveness? Thanks!

Well adding to my previous post , I'm hitting the lst 3ti HIGHER , straighter and further than a lofted down S2+ 5WD and I have a max 7wd that's going further and far more consistent than the S2 + .....VERY HAPPY with PING fairway woods

The only condition the S2+ launched lower was when the sled was pushed all the way forward.  In the neutral position they launch similar.  With the sled back the TM launched considerably higher.  Off the deck the LST is far more forgiving.  Off the tee they are both rocket launchers, however the Ping is more forgiving for me overall.

So I added this shaft (Fubuki V 50reg) to my newer G430 LST 9*

And seriously added 10-20 of carry on great strikes with this being the best of the bunch .....

Thanks Broski.....  it took some time , not too long but finding a combo that unlocks distance is an awesome feeling . I was all in on TSR2 , then I hit a paradym TD which was/is very explosive. The G430 LST Sits for me between these 2 in sound and is strangely more forgiving than both?

I’ve Tried numerous back weights and shafts in my 430.

for whatever reason the best combo is with the 22g weight and the stock ping tour 2.0 at 45.5 finished length which clocks in at d5 swing weight.

now the weird thing is…. With the Denali shaft cut to 45.5 and the 22 gram weight the swing weight is D7 and… with the Tensei orange 1k with the 22 gram weight cut to 45.5… the swing weight is d8. Same grip on all these builds.

I don’t know what the issue is, but I guess the tour 2.0 is solidly counterbalanced? All I know is that I hit the ball way better with the club the way it came from ping spec’d exactly how I ordered it.

I tried the Denali with a 19 gram weight which took it to D5 and it was not as stable. Could be anecdotal but I was on razors edge of control with that setup where as the ping tour with 22 gram weight is way more consistent.

any information warmly welcomed.

How much difference in spin are people seeing going from max to lst in the same loft? I hit the max nice high and crazy straight, but don’t seem to get a lot of roll out. Not ballooning at all, but I have a feeling it could be longer….then again I wouldn’t want to stray very far from my current dispersion. This is just based on actual playing, I don’t have any actual numbers. Have a Fuji motore speeder ts 7.2 s with stock weight. 10.5 Set to -1 flat.
