What are you buying next season?

Figured it would be fun to make a post like this. With all the new gear being announced, it’s fun to think about what you would want to change for next year. I’ll go first:

driver: Ping G430 Max w/ Tensai 1k black 70 Stiff

woods: Ping G430 Max 3 wood w/ ventus blue 70 Stiff

hybrids: Ping G430 Max 3 and 4 w/ ventus blue 80 stiff

irons : Srixon ZX7/ZX5 combo w/ KBS Tour Stiff shafts

wedges: Edel Wedges 50, 56, 60 w/ DG wedge shafts or Tour V wedge shafts

not sure on the wedge spacing. Would either get rid of a club somewhere else and add a wedge or maybe go 50 54 60

G430 LST for sure.  And the wedges are due for an upgrade, but thats probably about it.

Oh and one of those new Vessel-looking Sun Mountain bags and some Winston Collection headcovers.  Maybe those new Puma shoes...

TBD - G430 Max 15* - 818 H2 19*- Sub 70 Pro 23* - i525 6-U - SM9 54* / 58* / 62*  - F22

What’s the T stand for in LST? Low Spin…?

I'm mostly investing in shafts. My speed has returned, I'm in the 112-115 range with my driver right now, and if I stick with it through the winter I think I can get back to 117-119 range I was when I was swinging my best. I'd also like to fuddle around a bit more with the top of my bag. I tried doing 3/4 hybrid with a 3w, but I can't stop myself from hooking the 4h. I think I might have to open up the 3h to 4h loft, and drop the 4h, then go back to the 5w. It's less versatility, but I feel more confident hitting it and not hooking it into the west coast.

D - Tour Burner TP 9.5*/Mitsubishi Diamana Whiteboard 63g

3W - 07 Burner TP TS/Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard 73g

2h - Razr Tour/Aldila NV Hybrid 85

3h - Diablo Edge Tour/Motore Speeder Tour Spec 9.8 HB

5-7 - P790/KBS C-Taper 120

8-PW - P770/KBS C-Taper 120

50* - Nike Engage

54* - Nike VR Forged

60* - Nike VR Forged

P - Nike Method Origin B2-01 Naked

Pretty happy with where I’m at. I did wedges, fairway wood, hybrid , bag and shoes this year so it feels like I should take a break next year.  I know blasphemy.

Main shaft which interests me is one for my driver. I want to get a maximization fitting for my current EXS driver, and maybe test out some out lighter shafts in my Callaway XR16 Pro (prior big club).

If I could pick up 20+ consistent yards on my drives, it would really juice my game.

Otherwise, it's largely Year of the Swing 2. My 2022 plan was to exorcise my swing, but three spinal lumbar injections delayed my golf season until last week of June. The 2023 season may largely be swing enhancement.

What's In The Bag (As of April 2023, post-MAX change + new putter)

Driver:  Tour Edge EXS 10.5° (base loft); weights neutral   ||  FWs:  Calla Rogue 4W + 7W

Hybrid:  Calla Big Bertha OS 4H at 22°  ||  Irons:  Calla Mavrik MAX 5i-PW

Wedges*:  Calla MD3: 48°... MD4: 54°, 58° ||  PutterΨSeeMore FGP + SuperStroke 1.0PT, 33" shaft

Ball: 1. Srixon Q-Star Tour / 2. Calla SuperHot (Orange preferred)  ||  Bag: Sun Mountain Three 5 stand bag

    * MD4 54°/10 S-Grind replaced MD3 54°/12 W-Grind.

     Ψ  Backups:

  • Ping Sigma G Tyne (face-balanced) + Evnroll Gravity Grip |
  • Slotline Inertial SL-583F w/ SuperStroke 2.MidSlim (50 gr. weight removed) |

Probably my grips first. Don't know if these wear faster than others, but my Tour Velvet Cord grips only laster for about 30-40 rounds, before they were useless in rainy conditions. Also, the TV Cords are tearing up my right hand like sand paper. My previous grips (MCC +4) almost held up twice as long. Normal Tour Velvets are too slippery for my taste. Interested to try the CP2 Pro or new CPX grips next season.

Taylormade Stealth 9o - Even Flow Riptide CB 6.0 S

Srixon ZU65 17o 2i - Miyazaki Tour Issue

Ping G410 22o 4h - Fujikura Pro 2.0 7S

Mizuno MP4 4-PW - KBS C-Taper Lite S

Vokey SM8 50-56-60

Scotty Cameron GOLO S

I'll try the G430LST and new Stealth driver, but probably won't buy anything unless one blows away the G425LST.

Have you tried zcords? Ive been using mine for their third year. Great with traction and are firm.

New grips for the 13 tools, I regrip em every year,( putter grip is fine) and thinking about trying a mallet putter out. Haven’t gamed one since my zebra putter in high school, been anser “style” since 1999.. the ping Mundy looks good, so does the Cameron 5 flowback, we’ll see what’s out by march.. 👀 maybe try some different “necks” on some putter as well.

The age of my current set is as follows:  (newest to oldest)

1. 2010   Titleist 910 D3

2. 2009  Titleist SM7 Vokey's 54/14, 58/10

3. 2008  Seemore X2 putter

4. 2005   Titleist 755's 3-PW  DG X-100's

5. 2003  Nickent 24* hybrid

6. 1998  Taylormade V-Steel 3 and 5 woods

I believe the time has come to replace everything except the Seemore.  My wedges are shot and the wear on the 755's is really starting to show.  There's too much good technology out there now and I feel like I'm giving up too much in distance and trajectory.  It's sort of sad to see this set get replaced.  It's been a LONG time since I've played anything else.  (I guess Ping Eye 2's were the previous gamers)

This go around I guess I'll go the full monty with a full bag fitting.  I haven't been on a launch monitor since 2010 so I would think I can improve on what I currently have.

Going to get a Diamana GT here soon and that's the last major change for me for the rest of the year.  I may get the Stealth 2.0 or whatever TM calls it next year even though the Stealth + i have right now is behaving.  Also have a hole in my golf bag where a mutant squirrel was chewing on it to get the food inside so my bag is due for a change.  Also will have to replace grips as well sometime early next year.

Just put in an order for a LAB MEZZ.1 MAX. Been goofing around with the regular MEZZ at the local PGA store and have been impressed with the results.
