The Gary Player course is great for TV golf, especially the latter holes. All the best regulars on the DP there, the top guys playing i US will join in Dubai next week. Some of the LIV guys joining in too.

Kind of, but yet some invites like Luke Donald? Struggling to get many of the top guys to show, understandably with the travel required.

Amazing courses there, I visited in 2003. Very beautiful place but dangerous country.

The dangerous animals except h*** Sapiens I suppose are as dangerous as back then, I won´t go there for the snakes, tse tse flies, crocodiles and stuff(my globetrotter wife laments that). But in the case of human predators, have things stabilized in South Africa since 2003 I wonder.

(Sun City is probably in the tropics while Kruger is not. I promised my scandinavian genes, after a trip to Thailand '89, that I would never go to the tropics again... Aint build for movements in temperatures above 20C and our adders are pretty friendly, the only mean animals around)

Since Luke Donald is the current European Ryder Cup captain he is going to be invited to many DPWT/PGAT events.

 

Also Donald still has status on the DPWT for career earnings.

I know but the event had several other professional invites who are all Proteas.

I was talking about humans. Johannesburg was scary as hell if in the wrong area. Capetown was amazing but still had very sketchy areas. Sun City was super safe and you could do whatever there. As I said above, beautiful, amazing country with some very serious crime.

Wonderful to hear his It's not like it was in my day reminiscing and the inevitable tales of his prowess both in the gym and as a world traveller. As a bonus, I just heard the alternative history of the life of Ben Hogan where he went off to war for five years instead of the two years stationed locally in Texas which he actually served. Honestly, if you handed Gary a pint of beer, he'd drink it, plonk the glass down, and tell you he'd just drunk a gallon.

Easier to chase than be chased. Final 2 3somes a combined 18 over par. The 3rd from last 3some goes 12 under.

Having been there in 2000, you got that correct about Jo-berg and Sun City. I did enjoy my week at Sun City and felt perfectly safe at the resort.

Rain delay, followed by calm, sunny conditions, then a brief period of seriously buffety wind over the leaders' closing holes.

Didn't realize how great of a season Ryan Fox has on the the DP Tour this season. 2 wins, four 2nd place finishes and 3rd and 4th place finishes. Be great to see him win next week.

Yeah Fox has been en fuego for awhile now. He's got to be one the *least* accurate drivers of the ball at this level of play though which feels like it will limit his success on more penal courses. Definitely a Euro Tour skillset, super fun to watch though. 

Big win for Tommy though! Hopefully he can pay off those new teeth now. 😅

It was a Finau and Fleetwood double for mat562 this weekend. If I see Tommy down at Wentworth for next year's BMW PGA, I'll offer to treat that T Grind Vokey of his to a new grip.

I'm not sure which is the more perplexing mystery. How he was left out of the Presidents Cup team, or what happened to his tee shot on 18 with his favourite club in the bag.

I was surprised R. Fox did not get selected for the Presidents Cup team given his form and power/distance which would have been suitable to Quail Hollow.

 

I've never heard of T. Pendrith before the Presidents Cup.

 

The way he lost the Irish Open a few years ago to Know and the Dutch Open to Perez this year was cruel!

The latter is more perplexing.  He was left off the other because, like so many here, there is the belief he just isn't as good since he doesn't play on the PGA Tour.  As if more proof was needed that that event is nothing more than pga tour love-in, and not some meaningful "it's an honor to make the team" type thing that it's made out to be.

I may be wrong but watching Mr Fox all year I’d say if it came to a tight decision on selection his short putting is weak. It’s all in events like the PC. 

 

Then his driver swing is less than orthodox. His performance this year should perhaps be judged against a weakened DPWT when he’s snatched defeat from the jaws of victory several times.

I'd agree with that to some extent. In Immelman's shoes I would have had not just Fox, but Min Woo Lee on my team too.

Especially considering it was at Quail where being able to pound the ball is a necessity.
