Callaway Paradym driver - 2022 QBE Shootout

Ah gotcha, yeah I’m asking about the Triple Diamond, which I’d think would be much like your LS. I agree the regular Paradym is super shallow — it just screams “skymark me!”

I have the 3HL and the face is shallow yea. Reminds me of a Ping fairway. Very easy to launch though and great size and shape.

Anyone swing the TD with the Kai’li white?  It’s the only shaft PGASS didn’t have.

Yes.  I preferred the Tensi white Av. Little stiffer in tip to me

Oh I was just talking about paradym. I saw them and thought really shallow but didn’t see the 3d. I play the rogue st ls and the shape is perfect to me, deeper than the new ones I saw

I’ve got the Paradym TD 3 wood.  It’s a little taller than the standard but not too much.  So easy to hit off the deck.  Bomber.  I hit it today for the first time and I haven’t hit a ball in a while.  Crushed a couple off the tee and really went into one off the deck.  262 into the wind and reached the green.  Surprised the heck out of me as it’s not very warm (today was 52*, overcast and about 10mph winds).  Using a TR Blue 7X.  Feels fast off the face.

Yikes, its nice to have speed. I wait patiently for a strong downwind hole to even come close to 262 with a perfectly struck driver.

Today could  be the day as 20+ winds are called for and I have a 7:45 time, of couse it will be all carry since it rained quite a bit last night abd this course is known to wet anyway.

Have you tried the Autoflex in any of the new Paradym clubs yet?

Have not.  Still testing the AutoFlex with the TSR3 9* and TSR3 8*.  Just got some new weights for both heads and haven’t had time yet.  Also don’t want to throw that into the mix as I’ve just got the Aerojet LS, I have a Ping G430LST, Mizuno ST-Z 230 as well as the Paradym TD 9* on the way.  Too much right now to mess with everything.

Put the TD 3 wood in play this morning and with only a few shots it was impressive. With the Kali white 7s it launched really nice off the deck, I don't have a lot of speed but hit the nicest 3 well (16*) wood shots I have seen in a while and really liked rogue with the GD AD UB 7s but this head lofted up +1 was just better in the few I hit.

Have some more adapters on the way to set the the UB 7s and my AD DI 8x for the 3 & 5 if the honeymoon does not last with the Kali.

Driver and 5 wood arriving tomorrow.

Well it was 250 to the front edge and that’s about where the ball ended up so it wasn’t a full 262.  However the plug mark was close so I would say 251-252 but it felt really nice off the face.  Again cannot emphasize how easy it was to hit off the deck.  I normally don’t like hitting 3 woods off the deck as I can at times struggle with them and prefer the 5 wood or even a hybrid or UW.  Hopefully it’s not the honeymoon phase.

I was shocked at one shot how easy it launched off wet grass and sort of rough. I hit it well and stayed down on it for change. But when I looked up expecting to see the normal for me 3 wood flight of mid to low I could not find it and then it caught my eye being really high and into a 25 mph wind, so it may have balloned a bit.

The Kali 7s feels a lot softer than the GD AD UB 7s and the profile is similar I believe being a softer handle, but i could be way off on that also and it is just a lot softer overall.

The low profile is what I like to see and look forward to the 5 wood showing up later today.

After a lot of testing, went to do a final fit/lesson. TD 8deg with +1 seems to rally sit nice and pairs best with the autoflex.

Now the wait begins as I’m hearing the 8 degree heads don’t come for a while.

8* heads aren’t on the back-order report, so they should be going out at same time as all else.

Ordered mine on the original release date - through my local golf shop. Anybody have any idea if Callaway sends out customer-direct-from orders before shop orders?

Shop ordered direct from Callaway, but there are no shipping updates as yet.

Quite jealous of all you direct-from folks that are getting yours early.

Why?  I've had nothing but great experiences with them.  And I always get the 4 orange tees and the orange ball marker, complimentary, with my order.

Strangely enough I got a shipping notification yesterday that my order is arriving today for the 3 wood, well I got the 3 wood last week.

We will see if I now I have (2) 3 woods, no indication on the CC that I was charged for two or at least not yet. I would just send it back anyway but interesting...

Interesting as Mitsubishi website says kaili white is their stiffest tip ever

The KaiLi White's EI profile is more akin to what we've come to associate with the OG Diamana Blue, which is a practically linear loss of stiffness** from handle to tip. Tensei AV White is more of a "stiff mid" profile. KW is stiffer in the handle, the TAVW is stiffer in the middle, and KW is a touch stiffer in the tip.

Best way to think of Kaili White is actually as more of an OG Diamana Blue with a stronger tip section. From a feel perspective, IMO it has much more in common with previous MCA Blue shafts than White ones. If you get along well with the softer handle/stiff mid like Tensei Pro or 1K in Orange and White, KaiLi White may not be your jam at all. Personally while I don't hate KaiLi White, I don't jive with it like I do shafts with a softer handle and mid stiffness bump.

**This is what's really being referenced when the term "smooth profile" is correctly used. It gets wrongly tossed around in reference to shafts that don't feel boardy because of having excessively low torque.

That is really interesting as my 1st impression of the Kali white is I really like it and have always prefered the softer handle types like GD AD BB and now the UB, but I absolutely do very well with the AD DI profile. So maybe there is no one profile that actually will work for me.

Graphite Design are unique amongst shaft companies in that practically all their Tour AD shafts are VERY subtle variations of what's referred to as the "soft mid" profile archetype. Shafts in this category tend to be relatively stiff in the handle, soft in the midsection, and stiffer in the tip. The different color profiles of things like MCA Diamana/Tensei and Fujikura Ventus are far more different from each other than Tour AD shafts are.

The success of the Tour AD line has likely influenced a migration of the Mitsubishi Blue profile from "smooth" to more of a soft mid type. The OG Ventus Blue also fits into the "soft mid" category. Sounds like "soft mid" is the profile that suits your feel preferences the best.

Got to play 12 holes today and I have to say my first impression is positive. I hit driver 6 times and hit 6 fairways. Very wet so all carry distance but none the less good distance. I have the standard 9 degree head with a Tensei 1K white 70 gram playing at 45 inches. I like the feel and sound, but it's not quite as nice in that regard as the tsr2. I'd say for me it was mid/high flight. It was windy but there was no ballooning so spin was good as well.
