TW to the Scotty Grip?

New ball?

I believe it is the Bridgestone B X, rather than the XS. If my memory is correct, they anticipate he will play this for the “silly season” to take advantage of the extra driver distance but they expect him to go back to the XS when he returns to regular tournament play (or majors).

Yeah, I think a bigger story here is Nike STILL hasn't come up with a shoe that he likes. I mean, like a one off, hand made model that looks like a current Nike model but supports like the FJ. It's not like they don't have the capabilities.

I think he talked about this somewhere but he was referring to the needs of a "stable" golf shoes after the leg injury. I think most of Nike's shoes are on the "flexible and athletic" side but probably nothing on the "stable" side.

But Nike definitely has the capabilities to construct literally any shoe they want, including essentially an FJ in a Nike wrapping. It's crazy they haven't got him in something with a swoosh on it. We're not talking about a model for mass production here, but a purpose built model for one of their biggest endorsers.

Does anyone know how much longer TW is under contract with Nike? Last I remember he signed a very large deal with like a 10-year term but we may be getting close to the end of that run. Maybe the interest just isn't there from one side or the other. Surely if they were renegotiating a deal for Tiger today the terms would be much different.

Maybe they are betting on him recovering soon and be back to the normal form?

I’m amazed grown men are so hung up on this. One guy’s dedication in the golf shoe forum accounts for about 80 posts railing against a shoe manufacturer who hasn’t made Tiger  a dedicated shoe.

Nike Golf has to be less than 2% of Nike’s yearly business. Nike makes more money selling air monarchs than their golf business.

I don’t think he had his gamer putter. It looked like it but the Scotty on the back of the red didn’t exist.  There was nothing written in one of the tv shots.

I’m not mad about it or anything, just from a business perspective it’s bizarre to me. They pay a bajillion dollars a year for him to be a walking billboard. They make one off prototype shoes every day.

I think it’s a bigger percentage than that. Say what you want about Nike, but they run a good business. When they saw no room for hockey to grow, they dumped it. When they didn’t see growth or margins in golf clubs, they got rid of them. They invest heavily in golf shoes and apparel because they see a return.

Anywho, did they really change the size of the ping grip?

Yeah, they have a saddle type shoe in the Jordan line I think. Surprised not to see him in that.

They’ll come up with something, he still is the only guy the “moves the needle”.

Totally understandable. Sorry, I didn’t mean to single you out. Their golf business is probably great but I’m trying to emphasize how their other ventures are massive. I grew up with their hockey gear and loved it for the most part. It was sad to see their exit.
