Scotty Cameron Super Select Putters for March 2023

Those that already have these, are you buying at like a pga superstore?  Thought they weren’t for sale for a few more days.

i bought mine at a local shop, custom ordered with a pistolero for no charge.  i have always played a np2 style, but have always loved the look of 2.5 style, so i got the 2.5 plus and im making everything! last 2 rounds since purchase have been 70, 72. Typically a good putter, but im rolling it so well with the 2.5+.  ive tried all kinds of putters as well, too many to count, and nothing gets my coming back like a scotty.

Yes, I wanted to hate the new version as I had loved my Special Select so much. My son purchased a Super NP2 and wow I was hooked. It has a noticeable softer feel and less clickiness. I ended up buying one myself and it just has a better feel in my opinion.

Got mine at my local shop. They also had the Del Mar in their case. 

 

I'm also on board with the feel of the Scotty putters. I've tried a lot of different types but prefer milled over insert (feel and distance control) and the mallets from this line and Phantom just have a very dense feel but still contain the feel and sound that most are accustomed to. Just a very good feeling in my opinion.

Messed around with the golo 6. Man, that thing hugs the ground. Have some trade-in credit waiting to be used. I also messed around with the Phantom x 5 and kinda fell for that one, too. Anyone have opinions on which one they like more b/t the Phantom and Golo?

This is a hard one because I own both a Phantom 9.5 and the golo 7 and eying a golo 6.5.. However they are 2 different animals.. and it depends if you like high MOI mallet putters or if you like blade putters that need a little bit more MOI help?

 

Blade putter with MOI help = Golo

 

High MOI Mallet putter = Phantom

Got mine in today as well. I hopped from a Newport 2, to a Cobra King Stingray 40 (which I putt really well with). But this on seems to be even better for me. Sits really well, easy to aim, and the full face balance matches my stroke really well.

 

Sound and feel of the face is really nice, slight click but softer than my Special Select was. Bonus points, these headcovers look way better too, to me anyway 😁.

Hmmmm…so that’s what they say is “near-max” for the 6.5?

 

free protractor app says about 45 degrees. Given I heard Golo plays much easier time flow/rotation vs heavy like the flowback 5.5 I am back to leaning towards the 6.5 vs the 6. We shall see.

Appreciate the perspective. It appears the local Golf Galaxy will be getting both and they have a decent length putting green. I want to try 20ft putts as I’ve heard that is a good way to tell. The club champion where I’ll be buying it only has the 6 to demo.

Thanks for the toe hang pictures. Don’t have a protractor but the 6 looks around  10-15*

Nice tcbs btw! Not sure where you are in goal to breaking 80 but that’s my journey right now. Making full swing changes at the moment which is tough.

Thank you! I'm actually playing the X Forged CB's but there isn't a ton of difference really haha.

 

I'm in the same boat, working through some swing changes and making better course management decisions. I feel close but so far away. I've been averaging 85 for 18 holes, some days when I play only 9 I can hit 40-41, so we will see how the continued season treats us 😁 Hope yours goes well too!

I ordered mine through our clubs pro shop. I'm assuming they ship them out early so they can be in stores by the actual release date. I walked in to play yesterday and my putter was there waiting haha.

My store in town already had them on display. I was handed one since it was a new model to try and thought, "don't these not release until NEXT Friday?" I basically have it to my specs (1° flat and 34.5in.) and also went through some testing with a Phantom 9, Newport, Newport +, and Phantom 5.5. This was the best one out of the lot. I've never been one to even try a "face-balanced" model but this has a touch of toe hang so it allows me not to fight it as much in my slight arc. The face is in all the right spots throughout my stroke so I've been bang on with hitting my lines. I've removed a lot of variables in my putting.

Oh my bad, but still sweet irons. I’ll be switching up my irons and wedges later this year. Still playing the 2013 X forged. Main reason I even want new irons is to get properly fit. I did that with my driver, 3 wood, and hybrid in the last couple of years and the difference is huge!

You are all good! They are easy to confuse haha. I hear you there, I did a Callaway demo/fitting day last week and was surprised at some of the equipment changes I needed. Now I'm working towards piecing that stuff together. Those 2013's are good irons heck even Phil Mickelson has them in the bag this week.

I don’t think you would want to do that.  The slight hang will be to your benefit.  At least imo.

Scotty has become an absolute Snoozefest.  It’s no wonder the LA Golf guys have been coming for them on a few podcasts.  Given the resources at their disposal it would be great if they did some honest work on high MOI or adjustable putter designs.  The Copy & Paste move from Ping is getting super old now.

I would like it if he put effort into clean designs again.  The cherry bombs and huge fonts are a major turnoff.  Was planning on buying this year’s release until I saw the busy styling.

Went to test the 6 and 6.5 at Golf Galaxy this morning. Their putter fitting with Biomech is $39 so I figured it was worth it to get actual data rather than just feel 6 vs 6.5.
 

Quickly determined 6.5 is right for me. I also like the heavier head/weights when using the 34” vs 35” but worried about it being too short. ClubChampion is ordering me a 34.5” Golo 6.5 with 15 gram weights. I can always mess around with aftermarket weights if I want a bit more weight. Now I just have to wait for it to come in and out in time to practice!

Yes, you are able to order heavy directly from Titleist. I ordered a 34" heavy and it came with 20gram weights in both slots.
