AK most likely received a 7 figure(filled with incentives) sum to come back.  Who is going to turn that down?  Why grind it when you have mouths to feed when you don't have to?  Many of us are rooting for him even with the LIV route he took.  I personally don't like LIV but don't fault any of the players for going there.  Just don't cry about it afterwards like JR.

I’m happy for AK. He still has, hopefully, a long life to live and a family to provide for. I think he knew getting back on the PGAT was not in the cards for him. Hopefully the LIV money secures his and his family’s future.

he knew odds were against him and would lose his insurance money especially given all his struggles with health etc.. Not easy to make it back to the PGA tour and make money, a lot of luck is involved along the way because golf is a fickle game. There are guys failing to make the pga tour each year who are better golfers than those on the tour. LIV was a way for him to come back with guaranteed money.

From looking at this stats, his driving is clearly dragging him down. Hes 55th in fairways hit (35%), 55th in GIR (49%) and 55th in scrambling (46%).

 

He looks like he's had a couple of really impressive putting events - although their putting stat is "average number of putts per hole".

 

If he could string together a few -2s and an actual T20 finish, it would certainly be a start.

Yes, Really good start lets see if he can physically and Mentally get in the house for three rounds.

 

Playing in a professional tournament when you have not played in 12 years real competitive golf - you would be surprised  how these courses can wear you down. They are setup tough and it will take time for the guy to adjust.

 

This topic has sparked my interest in LIV golf a bit more and the players are good.

I watched AK last night on baby duty, he looked pretty damn impressive. Striping drives both draws / fades, nearly knocked the flag stick down with a 2 iron on a par 5 to about 20 feet or so, lagged a 100 ft putt to inches and good short game and putting, very clean round. Also, his body language and focus looked pretty good. While I've switched from anti LIV to a more neutral position I have to admit some of the viewing options are pretty good. Remember, when the Masters was on and you could barely see half the coverage? 

 

Whether he can actually post consecutive good rounds and place remains to be seen, but couldn't believe the talent to do that in a "pro" event given his time away and story. Imagine Bryson, Cam Smith and Patrick Reed showed up in your foursome and you beat them all, that's what AK did yesterday. AK just needs to keep it even par or better and keep getting reps. I'm intrigued.

I'm guessing you were streaming online? Comparing The Masters on TV to 54 online isn't at all the same. If you want to compare then do so to The Masters streaming which is universally praised for all killer, no filler during prime time. They show one to two spots an hour from their sole flagship sponsor, which I suppose 54 can avoid since they have no flagship sponsors. 

 

I'll give you that mainstream Tour coverage is bad in the States because of commercials, but 54 doesn't have to navigate that "burden" so it's not really comparable, and neither is the "competition" in a closed shop with team golf and no cut.

AK shot a 69 in the first round of this weeks event. Played poorly the final 2 rounds. Beat one player in the short 54 player field of the same players each event he's played.

 

AK shot his best round on his current tour, 65, in Hong Kong, in the final round. His next event in Miami at Doral he fired +4, +9, +8. 

 

On his current tour, genrally the same 54 player fields, he's finished 53rd, 50th, 53rd, 54th, 53rd.

 

AK missed the cut in his one Internalional Series Event appearance. Field of 144 players. 3 players W/D after the first round/start of the event. Of the players that completed 36 holes AK finished ahead of 5 players. IOW roughly 136th (actual T130 due to ties) out of 141 players that completed 36 holes. Numbers listed above are actual results.

Not unusual for those at the heights of the executive level to make gobs of money when they get bored with retirement and start consulting, or even get sought out and paid even more than they made at their peak to come back for a project type they specialize in. 

 

Not quite the same as he was never at that level, but AK has given 54 more press than anyone else they've gone after. If he could have proven the buzz would be this big in comparison to others he could have easily demanded a few million more given what they've paid out to others who didn't move the needle at all.

I give AK a big hat's off🎩 for not takin a DNF/WD with these scores, especially that debacle in Miami. That said, I'm sure that there is signed paperwork forbidding a DNF/WD, unless one, his achilles is literally torn from his calcaneus and two, he has 4 orthopods sign off on the injury, lol.

 

The fact that he threw that 65 up shows that he still has the physical game and it's just gonna take a minute to bring his mental game up to speed.
