My Lord I almost had a heart attack watching the end of the Gonzaga / TCU game.  

 

 

There were a great many hard fought games today in the Tournament.

Great stuff and it beats the living hell out of baseball. 😃

 

 

Two in our group are really counting on the Zags.

I don’t think I’m promoting the WBC, just don’t give 2 💩 about basketball.  I grew up playing into college so I still like it, maybe not like football, hockey or lacrosse.

 

I may have co founded (way to much credit) this contest, but the worlds biggest moron  has as much if not more knowledge than the  Big Fish.  Remember I used a very sophisticated system and darts in making my picks, it’s the first weekend and I have already lost 50% of my horses.  Only 2 more loses to imperfection.  

 

I am not a basketball fan, the last season I played I scored 2 points, that isn’t a typo, so basketball isn’t my thing.  I don’t watch it at all, so why I was catching up here and other things from my getting drunk last night, the hangover and carting the kid around, baseball is great for background watching.

I took second place this year in our NFL Picks contest TS and that was my best finish in 6 years jack.

*A teaser. 

 

Remember I predicted 5 under would win Saturday's tournament that was played in very wintry conditions? Well a 65 did get posted and it held up for about 20 minutes. Then a team came in with a 64. I got real busy when half the field had come into the clubhouse after finishing their round and I lost track of the scores. An hour after all the golfers had finished I asked a member did the 64 hold up?  He replied no it did not. Then he was the first tell me about the most incredible shot that a player made on the only par 5 at BFCC to seal the victory.  What I heard from him was beyond incredible. It was so special that I went out after my shift and captured some photos from just where this all took place knowing I just had to share this incredible golf story in the Lounge.

 

This photo from the tee box on #7 is where the magic started.

Nail biter!! I'm not a big BBall fan but follow as my niece's husband went to Gonzaga. He lettered in woman's crew and his first job was a Disney jungle boat pilot. Still works for Disney from an office in Manhattan.

Even though I'm quite weary from busting my 61 year old butt all weekend long I still will be teeing it up tomorrow.

The quite cold weather continues in the mountains for two more days. I will be wearing my UA Cold Gear long underwear once again. Deep freeze tonight in the AVL , our low temp will be 19* 

 

Tomorrow when we tee off at Cummings Cove at 12:30 it will be sunny and 43*

 

Yeah baby, for a second week in a row I'm playing winter golf warrior.

I will say I love basketball, didn't do Final 4 thing because I don't know a lick about college rankings even though my son plays JV at Belmont Abbey. Use to watch gobs of NBA  but nowadays they only play D in playoffs, so that's when I watch full games. Find it amusing, that 25 sec clock & last minutes gets mentioned and in NFL they talk about what they might do for 35 seconds every down. Jordan era ball was my favorite because those guys took a beating to each other every night. When I hear of guys "maintaining" with rest on a $40 million contract, it doesn't endear me to them at all. Final 4, The Masters& NBA playoffs cheer me up because that means the gray skies of Winter are gone.

Familial golf.  I did get to play golf with my dad as he got older, and I am forever thankful.  When I started to golf I would ask him if he wanted to golf with me, and he told, "I figure it goes like this.  Soccer, tennis, golf, checkers, death, and I am not ready to take the next step."

Here is a more recent photo of my dad at 75 years old at St. Andrews, so about 15 years ago.

 

 

 

 

I played golf with my son, he was about 16, maybe 17.  He didn't like golf, but would play once or twice a year for me.  His last hole went like this.  520 par 5.  Pulls drive into trees has 420 left.  Hits 4i to about 210 out middle of the fairway.  Hits that 4i to about 10'.  Misses putt for birdie, knocks in tap in and tells me, "I suck at golf and this was my last round."

The first club is a very nice Tom Stewart putter likely early 1920’s. The second is from before 1900, you can tell by the smooth face. Likely 1890’s.

 

I also enjoyed playing with my father. He introduced me to the game, fond memories.

Cummings Cove is a track  where one must take course management seriously.

The guys might find it helpful to know that in crew, the coxswain can be either a man or a woman regardless of it being men’s or women’s crew. Upon 1st read it’s kinda like 🤔 haha. Nice story Wooley, thanks!
