I remember back in the late 90s I bought  at Barney’s this Gordon Gekko style blue double breasted, big shoulder, Boss suit. The color was called…Zeus! How’s that for a sign of the times, pure self centered “greed is good” materialism 🤣

My great grandfather used to work for a department store.  I never knew that, but I knew when my grandmother would take us to lunch it was to the department store and their tea room.  I guess it was high society.  When we would go to the mall I always wanted to eat at the Woolworth's counter, and my mom would give me the hard no.

 

And I have to say, you folks have some sweet irons, I have iron envy.

And back then there was also ALWAYS an attendant in the Women's restroom and those restrooms had a separate small sitting room as well. My mother would tell the story that little LP was always chatting it up with attendant as well as the other shopping ladies that were in there to use the facilities. Guess I was just honing my craft early.  😄  Yes it was high society back in those days P3P.

I put one of the those shafts in my 7H to lower the ball flight... I kid, I kid.  Not about the 7 hybrid, I totally have that, but the shaft.

For last few years this has been starting irons. Maruman SX w/ DG S400 constant weight in 3-PW, GW & SW. Have Corded Velvet Tour grips w/ 4 stepped layers. Back up set is Titleist 681 w/ Rifle X. But may move to those or brand new T-Stamps w/ S400 this Spring. The Maru's have been wonderful.

My irons are a decade old set of Cobra Amp Cells with Recoil 660 F2 shafts  (added 2 years ago). Like Pete above, I easily get iron envy, and if I had CS’s length and accuracy, I’d definitely upgrade. But every time I’ve tried new irons, the results are roughly the same as my current setup, even when doing a professional fitting. My last fitting session was with a former mini-tour pro who is also a swing instructor. I’ve now had a couple of swing sessions with him and if I get to the point where a new set will result in improved performance, I’m more than willing to spend! He has told me that my shafts are probably too light, which could result in control issues (not currently a primary concern) but I’ll wait until I’ve improved my swing before making a change.

... My irons are in transition. Played the MIM Tours for a little over 2 years and added the 2022 Forged Tecs last spring but too little spin kept them out of the bag. Although I play them every now and then when it is windy. I just picked up a set of King Tours with KBS S Tapers in stiff that are scheduled to arrive Friday. I have a set of Steelfiber i80's ready to install and will put the S Tapers in my MIM and I will sell both the MIM and Forged Tecs. 

... While I loved the feel on center hits with the MIM's and enjoyed the performance, the narrow heel always was unappealing to my eye. The King Tours looks perfect at address and forged 5 times with 1025 carbon steel they should feel amazing. I am expecting them to be a combination of the MIM's and my Forged Tours I never should have sold.

  But I hate winn grips - they don't last

   I am playing Ping anser forged with CP2s-recoil 3 ( regular) blue dot 4-pw

   Edel gap wedge and Ping Eye 2 sand and lob

   Putter is Ping " my Day" with lots of LEAD TAPE

The Hibiscus Tea Room, in Miami’s Burdines department store

 

 

 

The only store/restaurant combo I’m familiar with is Nordstrom Grill inside Nordstrom. The Nordstrom inside the mall closest to me shut down a few years ago. Online shopping has left the mall a mere carcass of its glory days.

If I remember I will post pics of the irons.  I don't have many, as you might imagine when I am playing a 7 hybrid.

 

They are Mizuno MP-4's.  When I bought them it was 4-PW with the PW at 48* and then 4* change per club.  I think I got them in 2014.  After a back surgery and general aging, I can barely get them off the ground which is why I am looking at revamping my iron set this year.  I have a recoil shaft in them, I believe the flex is 5.5 110 I believe.  I put the new shafts in a few years ago to see if it wouldn't help elevate the ball.  Newsflash, with my swing speed a crane might not help my trajectory.  I have the Plus4 grips in them.  They didn't have the mid-size, so after I get fitted for new irons I will get the mid-size in them.

 

I suspect the fitting will be focused on the Ping i230, the Mizuno 223, and whatever Callaway has in the cavity back players iron.  I don't love Callaway just because I don't have a ton of time for Phil Mickelson, but if they work better they will be the choice.  I am not sure if they have Srixon or some of the other heads available, but I always request a blind test so I don't know the shaft or head, and I will just swat em and see what happens.  It just so happens last time I hit the MP4s better than everything else... weird.
