Tiger Woods (WITB, Range, Putting Green) – 2023 Genesis Invitational

What's crazy to think. If Tiger did go to LIV, the PGA would have not one issue having Tiger play in any PGA tour event. When he is playing in an event the crowds and TV numbers are just double/triple maybe even more. They need him to obviously play more, because the PGA is not the same. It's just going to effect golf one way or another over time.

Tiger making the switch would be the only way LIV survives.

At this point, the guy is playing a half dozen events a year… and that’s being optimistic. It’s weird that he’s wearing FJ’s, but probably not enough of a problem to start an entire shoe line from scratch for Tiger.

The TW’s were always a completely different product than the Classics/Icons/Premiers. An athletic, flexible, hybrid golf shoe vs. a traditional leather, heel supported, golf shoe with more stability.

I’m guessing, but from a business standpoint, it’s probably not worth the time, effort, or expense to put him in a Nike product that’s comparable; and if they did, we’d all be complaining about them not offering the shoe to the public. 🤣

To add to this, Nike currently offers a more "traditional" golf shoe through the Jordan ADG 4 line and probably could (or in plans to) adapt it to his new needs; but considering its almost a year now since he's made the change it'll be FJ's until he decides to call it quits

How much are G-Fore's?  I'm surprised Nike wouldn't contract Manufacture with FJ and let Tiger style them and add a swoosh.  Charge $400-500 in sizes 8-12 in a limited release of 100 pair per size?  That's 900 pair probably costing < $100 COGs/pair and yielding profit of $270 - 360K.  Make it 250 Pair each size and that's $750K to $1 Million in profit due to scaling and reduction of COGs.

3-5 styles/colorways and its stupid easy money... Secondary market would probably go nuckin' futs...

Thanks for listening to my TedTalk!

Nike also happens to own Cole Haan, a traditional dress shoe manufacturer. And they even make golf shoes.

This is terrible PR for Nike. They put out a statement last year they will work on a shoe that fits his new needs. I’d be shocked if they hadn’t tried to get something for Tiger and he just said no I’m good.

😂😂😂

FootJoy has no reason at all to “contract” with Nike to produce a shoe for Tiger with a Swoosh when he’s wearing their shoe for free with a FJ on it

I love this, but sadly, when you make $46.7b in revenue not doing much with golf shoes or innovation or design or anything else golf shoe related and you CFB making a supportive shoe for their most popular golfer all time, is your pitch going to make its way out of the car park?  As another poster mentioned, let's just release old stuff with new colorways and call it a day.

BTW, thanks for the pics Greg!

Cole Haan was purchased by a private equity firm about a decade ago and their standard product lines have gone to s*** since then. I’m not even going to address their golf shoes, which are closer to the original TW line than anything FJ has offered in the Premiers, but garbage nonetheless.

It may be terrible PR, but who actually notices? WRX followers? It was noteworthy when he showed up in them the first time, now, not so much. It would be more surprising if he hit the range in a Nike product at this point.

Kind of annoying that I spent all that only on my MG3 TW wedges (56-60) and they didn't come in full raw finish like Tiger's actual MG3's.  @TaylorMade Golf

This blows my mind too, if you are going to make an exact copy of TW wedges at least make the finish the same... I think they are too afraid of the general consumer being put off by a full raw finish. I would have pulled the trigger if they offered them in full raw but went for raw SM9's instead.

Yeah unfortunately I purchased them before he actually put the MG3 in the bag.  I would not have bought them if they didn't match the finish on his.  Don't get me wrong the raw face is fine but that's that the allure of buying the TW, the allure is buying exactly what he plays.  Would be nice if  @TaylorMade Golf  updated the MG3 TW to full raw and let me trade mine in for them.  I'd pay the difference!

Majority of people wouldn’t want that besides wrxers. I think it should be an option but I think the raw wedges shouldn’t cost more since it doesn’t require a finish. Never understood that

Looks like he’s playing a bag of SIM woods, no? Stealth driver didn’t make the cut?

** Edit: my bad, it does look like a Stealth Driver. Must’ve been a 3 wood that mistook for a driver earlier.
