If a small digital camera has video, can you still take it in for practice Rounds? I'm trying to find a small digital camera to take but they all have video. 

 

I'm pretty sure you can't take a cell phone in and I'm thinking that is due to video capabilities but I could be wrong.

Any size camera is fine on Practice Round days, with or without video capability.  But the rules say just take still photos.  Phones aren't banned because of their video capability.

 

**Cameras (still photography/personal use only) are allowed on Practice Round days – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

They're communcation devices, can transmit images instantly, everyone would be on their phones, too much of a distraction for Augusta, etc etc etc

But it's practice rounds and I've never understood the no phone policy. I could definitely understand it on Tournament days.

Ban all phones. Truly amazed at folks who watch a shot through their phone while they're right there in front of the dang player. Your memory without the phone will remember the sound, the contact, the ball flight so much better if you put the phone away. And they have the phone out mainly so they can brag by posting it up on their insta or Facepage or tik tac.

I know, its silly. If I'm standing behind Tiger like that, I probably wouldn't be pulling out my phone so I could actually take in the shot live. Whenever I pull out my phone and video a player, I can't really focus at the shot. i'm too busy looking through the screen and recording. Nearly all those people are looking at the screen on their phone, lol.

You can film the shot without watching through the phone.  It's not basketball or football.

No I DID NOT start this as the official Masters Thread. I was only asking about the cameras. Now it may turn into the official Masters Thread if people want it to be, but that's not what I started this for.

I have never had trouble bringing in my gear. 

The cart is a pain in the neck to pull around.

 

For camera gear, tripods and cabling, you just need to a have a 6325G pass. 

We COs (camera operators) call it a hall pass.

Casio exilim is a very small camera that takes great video

I have been looking for a decent but reasonably priced point and shoot camera to take with me to the Wednesday practice round and finding it difficult to find one. It looks like phone cameras have caused that market to dry up. I am thinking of checking some thrift stores to see if I can find one.

The no phones is a beautiful thing,  probably one of the largest concentrations in the US at any day of phoneless people..

I've never been on a Wed, but this year I have Wed Tix. Does any players practice on course on Wed mornings or is it mainly the Range and par 3 tournament?

They’re all over the course Wed AM. It’s a great time to be there.

Hmmm, that I’m not sure of. I’ve only been twice on Wednesday’s and left right after the par 3 contest both times. My guess is yes but I’m sure someone else can answer that question.
