By priority.  The full field typically has 144 players; and those rookies have high enough priority to be in the field.

Do higher ranking players get to choose the Tee Times first?

Seems most higher ranking players are playing mid morning or mid afternoon Tee Times, which is ideal..

 

You don't want to be first out or last in..

You're right that higher ranked players are given better tee times; but I believe LPGA decides the tee times with input from tournament organizers.

I don't believe players get to choose tee times, but the tour generally gives the higher ranked players better times. Of course over the years there's been plenty of times where higher ranked players have been given "questionable" times.

Peeked at the early leaderboard. Yup, it's a full field event. Lol. Plenty of new names at the top. Should be a good week. 

 

The rookies have to get off to a good start. Over the past few seasons we've seen too many rookies struggle out of the gate and ultimately wind up back at Q Series.

I remember early in Brooke's career, she was top 10 (I think at #5) and in an event in Korea they gave her an early tee time and starting on the 10th with bottom ranked players, while the other top players in that wave started on #1.  I don't think she's ever played in Korea again lol

I think for the most part its computer generated but I believe the LPGA does pick featured/TV groups.

You'd be surprised how those slots get assigned.  I will neither confirm nor deny that preferred tee times have been handed out to "favorites" and crappy tee times given to others because of a petty difference with an LPGA staff member.  People are people.  The LPGA staff and players are no exception.

Yep - big field alright. A few names coming from the LET and doing well.

 

I still follow Sung Hyun Park and it's nice to see her below par again. But she tends to do this for the first round and then slip back down the field.

@18majorsthanks for sharing... Malbon style seems eclectic eg this “preppy”(?) example... vs the previous bucket-hat/ relaxed “slacker”(?) oversized sweaters example

Interesting leaderboard after the morning wave. Jeeno gave up 2 or 3 shots to the field on 18 to finish. Get to see the afternoon wave on course shortly 😊.....over 4 rounds the cream usually rises to the top.

I'd take first out with fresh cut, receptive, non trampled greens all day. Take a closer look at morning wave scores as opposed to afternoon wave scores, especially when the temps are up and the course is dry.
