Ping G430 LST 3 wood - 2023 Wells Fargo

I hit it at PGASS today and it was ok. Sounds funky!  IMO, not worth upgrading or spending the excessive money unless you really want it.

Agree on sound...you can even hear the funky sound in the Crossfield review.  Surprised he said sound is fine.

The sound is much more tolerable outside.  I was initially turned off by it inside until I saw numbers, and then it became pretty tolerable.  I couldn't really put it down after that.  Got it on the course yesterday, and it's really really good.  I'm not crazy long, but I found it easy to move the ball either way, easy to flight, and easily as long as the Paradym I've been playing with while being significantly longer than my old 425.  I knocked it to 8 feet from 268 into a slight breeze yesterday just trying to get accustomed to it.  The price tag hurt for sure, but the results do seem to be there thus far!

I hit it today- on the range & few holes just dropping balls in the fairway

Sound is SO player subjective IMO

It's a good club...easier to elevate over the 2014 Rapture. My 7wd has some hotmelt and honestly- both feel/sound the same to me outside

Just my opinion  - have zero idea why I'd add this to the bag though

9 Clubs Sunday Bag

Yeah, no issues with the sound whatsoever, sounds like any other carbon 3 wood.

I saw these on the rack at Golf Galaxy today. Unfortunately they didn’t have any demo heads or G430 LST heads at all for lefties, so I couldn’t hit it. But I tried to take a comparison picture of the G430 Max and LST in the righty heads.

To my eye, the LST is maybe a fractionally deeper face, and sits a touch more open.

Max is on top, LST is on bottom.

Jblough99 how does it compare to your normal 3 wood (and what is it)

I don't normally carry a 3 wood.  I usually have a 5 wood adjusted down to 16.5* or so.  The LST at 15* is about 25 yards longer compared to my G430 Max 5 wood turned down to 16.5*

That seems ridiculous and unusable on the course.  Now I want one.

Hahaha, right? Same here.

I put a G430 Max in the bag recently and it's perfect. I'm 7-for-8 on fairways off the tee the last three rounds with it, and the one I missed was by like two feet on a dog leg where I hit it exactly where I was aiming and just took a dumb line. About 25 yards shorter than driver, which is ideal. And really, really easy to hit even out of the rough. I love it.

... So naturally I want to replace it with the G430 LST because it looks like an absolute rocket launcher!

I would never get 300 carry out of one.  I hit a g430 max and loved the way it sets up and I was pretty good directionally with it, but I kept spinning it at like 5000.   The Stealth plus and paradym triple diamond fit me a lot better, so I would be interested in testing an lst out if I could get my hands on one.

I've never understood what difference the sound of any club makes. If It goes long and straight every time, I don't care what it sounds like. That has to be the least important thing about any club. You only hear the sound it makes after it's been hit, so it can't possibly affect the performance.

Hit this…. For reference I have a 430max, 425lst, and tested 430lst with my shafts.

425lst might be the hottest… mid to upper 160’s call speeds. The only issue is that it launches around 8-9 degrees for me. Spin mid to upper 2k rpm range.

430max maybe best all around… low to mid 160’s ball speeds at 10-12 degrees launch of deck, spin upper 2000’s scraping 3000 rpm.

430lst same speed and launch as 430max with low to mid 2k rpm’s. Nice high launch and low spin make this thing and absolute bomber.

I'm going to play around with the 425 lst for a while. The high end speeds were noteworthy.

There's a real phenomenon of break-in, and it looks like your 425 has it. Enjoy… but be careful in comparing a broken-in club with one just out of the wrapper.

The USGA is discussing the CoRs of drivers starting out at a 0.83, but getting bouncier as they go.

Wish ping would release a deep”er” face 3 wood and leave the shallowness to the 5 & 7.  Always have some Ping in my bag , if not all Ping tools , but the fairways have never stayed in the lineup. Ping G430D LST.. yeah , that sounds about right. Might be $950 in todays world though. Cheap R&D is ancient news.

It's much more compact - apple's and oranges really

Visually sure. But have you hit both? Are they comparable for spin and launch? Is one hotter for ballspeed than the other?

Had a fitting yesterday, and while I thought the Smoke Ai Max was going to be the best three wood, this with the new Ventus blue 7s was consistently faster, higher launching, and lower spin than anything else I tried. Max spun huge amounts in comparison. Looking forward to getting it on the course.
