To you, what's been the best driver this year/set makeup?

Really haven't been getting along with my driver this season and it's frustrating.

 

Yes, I know it's more me than the club...

 

But I'm curious what's been your best set makeup?

2023 Titleist, Ping, Callaway models - those are probably the three I've heard the best feedback about this year.

 

Personally, when I demo'd all the new year this spring, I wound up seeing the best numbers in the G430 LST and the Paradym TD: I just recently traded out of my 400 LST with that Callaway 2x promo... it was definitely a little wilder than the Ping, but man the face had some pop to it.

 

FWIW, I liked last year's Stealth and LTDx lines, too. Cobra has made some very nice drivers in the last few years.

I've never have really liked Ping drivers. Yes, forgiveness is great but all other numbers were just so underwhelming. 

 

Really liked the ltdx ls last. Much better than this years aerojet, but the ltdx ls was so out of control sometimes. It went forever, but the somewhat mishit on it killed you.

 

I've seen a lot of people mention the tsr2. How is it compared to the tsr3?

I really liked several this year — strong honorable mentions for the TSR2 and TSR3 and the G430 Max.

 

But for me, the clear winner has been the G430 LST. As long as I’m swinging reasonably well, it’s so straight and consistent. I spin the Max model too much and get a noticeable amount more distance out of the LST without really giving up much at all in terms of dispersion. 
 

I’ve liked the Tour 2.0 Black but it’ll eventually be paired with the Ventus TR Blue 6X that Andrew fitted me into at the GolfWRX Fujikura members’ experience. FedEx lost the package with my shafts, so TBD on when I’ll be able to get that shaft in play.

I went with the Stealth 2 plus... however it has been really good and then really bad for me. Its night and day how much more consistent and accurate my 3 wood is... well actually every other club in the bag is more consistent. Might go back to the TSR3 or try a Paradym.

I would see if you can pick up a regular LTDx and go head to head.  Maybe change up the loft or tip hand to change settings depending on your miss.  I recently put a LH tip on my Ventus Red 6X and it makes me giggle looking down at how open the face is now.

Set up depends greatly on user skill.  My driver setup is TSR2 10', with Ventus Velo TR Blue “S”, tipped .5” playing length 44.5” and sleeve A4.

I game an original Sim 9 degree with Ventus TR Blue 6X.  I also have a 9 degree original Sim backup.  Haven't found anything that is better....

Aerojet LS 9* DI 7x, also like TR Blue 6x in it. Overall though the Aerojet LS head is probably the most slept on head of the year IMO.

I never had the face on my OG Stealth and Stealth 2 pop off, but the laminate layer started peeling off.  Otherwise, I agree.  There's a tiny spot on the carbon wood face where the ball rockets off the face.

I must say I have not liked Ping drivers either I have tried G400 max the G425 max and hated them. They were not far, fast and really didn’t like the sound at all. But the new G430 max is an amazing driver. Very far, stable, forgiving and sounds good too. 
I understand your statement that the ping drivers are very underwhelming but the G430 is an amazing driver. 
If you’re strictly a numbers guy I would still give the ping a chance like I did and I’m very happy I did, but if you think that 3-4 yards distance is worth a consistent stable driver then look elsewhere. I put the ping against the TSR3 and Stealth and even though they were a tiny bit longer the ping is so good of mishits it’s worth it for me. I rather take consistency over a various shot shape all day.
