I’ll echo this. I’d almost say the ball felt like it sunk in and then sprung out. Face felt less dead to me and almost like a forged iron that’s hollow but doesn’t sound hollow. It was quite interesting in a good way. Hard to describe but it feels better than my Ai-One.

We got the 9.5 in recently at my club and can echo the sentiments from other testers.  I putted with it next to a 5.5 and Newport Plus.  It felt softer, like buttery soft with a nice almost powerful little pop to it.  The putters head weight, balance and feel are just incredible.   It looks a little wild at first, but once rolled all that goes away.

Been a longtime blade guy but dabbled with the spider x previously but went into PGATSS yesterday and fell in love with the 9.5, rare for me to buy a putter after 10mins on the shop putting green. 

 

Played today and had my best putting round in a really long time.  Only missed one putt inside of 6' and that was on a stroke i just quit on. The best part was the speed control; I lagged all my 20-30' putts in easy two in range. 

 

Finally the grip, I know some were saying it looked or felt weird and i fully intended to swap it for my usual Pro Only Red Star but didn't have time yesterday and i'm seriously glad i didn't. After warming up on the green this morning the grip felt great and i'll be keeping it. 

 

My only complaint is the headcover and Cameron's insistence on using double flaps; absolutely despise that.

So I spent a few hours at the practice green today with the new 7.5. I effing love this thing. I had myself convinced that I putt better with face balanced/center shaft. At least for today that wasn't the case at all. The small amount of toe hang just seemed to work for me. Even on long 20-30 footers I was leaving within a foot or two. I know there's always a honeymoon phase, but I'm considering a fire sale just to get rid of all my other options and just sticking with this one.

Well, I ended up not going with any of the new Phantom putters. Is it because they suck? Absolutely not! They’re a great upgrade to the ‘22 line including the grip - wow was it nice. 
 

I was messing about with all the .5 models and the assistant manager walked over with his #7 with the upgraded SL70 shaft and I feel in love. 
 

For all those wondering about the new Phantom line, it’s worth the small amount of money you’ll pay extra over the outgoing line.

You might get lucky and see them out sooner as some stores have put clubs out well before release date. My shop had the Golo 6.5 out three weeks prior and my PGATSS had the Spider Tour counter balance out early as well.

Some photos of the Phantom 7.5 from the latest purchases chain (courtesy of @optimator), it's growing on me can't wait for mine to arrive! Going to Stability Tour / Matador midsize it once it arrives!

Don't be a big hurry to change the grip, this thing really is solid. I swapped out the Pistolero Plus for a Matador mid on my 5s & I like this new grip just as much, if not more.

funny I was thinking of going matador mid too, what stability shaft and hotel size did you get?

I’m having the BGT Stability Tour Shaft installed on my 5.5 tomorrow.   I’ve just always played with a BGT shaft on my putters and for another discussion, for me, I love it.  I’m not even messing around with Scotty’s stock shaft which I’m sure is fine.  If you goto the BGT site they are very helpful making sure they send you the correct adaptor for the putter.  My 5.5 I believe came with a .390 adaptor.  I ordered mine last week before I purchased, shipped in a few days.  For me it’s just an investment in my putter.  My pro knows how to install etc.   Also going with a different grip just because I love the grip I have always used.  Yes, the new Scotty grips are nice but I just prefer my own putter grip.   I cannot recommend enough to just go on the BGT website, they have a live chat and can get you all squared away.

I had a Stability Tour black on my Phantom X 7.5 and just detached it from the head, it's the biggest one they offer. .390".

I ended up getting the 9.5, but when I went in I didn't want it because I didn't care for the look.  I was trying out the 5.5 and 7.5.  I finally tried the 9.5 and it just worked and rolled the ball better than the other two for me.

I keep trying to like the new heads but I don't think it's going to happen.  This release is just not for me.  I'm not a PXG kind of guy.

I have to chime in on this; one, your avatar is delightful, and two, I hear you. 

 

I will say that the heads do look much better in person than the online images. I was VERY close to getting the 9.5. I slept on it for once and didn't walk out with it after using it for a bit (after paying). I was about to take it to the register until I was handed something else and that just erased all thoughts of going back to a Cameron this season.

Think I am going to stick a Matador on my putter. Just like the feel of it better and the thickness

Just got an email from Titleist and my custom putter shipped on Monday 4/1 and is scheduled for delivery on Friday 4/5.
