Understood it's hard to run an independent division, but just seems like the Nike Golf team did nothing... They had an opportunity with Tiger winning the Masters in '19 and the COVID golf boom. Just look at the TW13 sales, market share was there.

It's definitely becoming a more common look, though.  These days there are a lot guys out there on worldwide tours wearing hoodies with modern takes on traditional golf shoes.  G/Fore's Gallivanter line with cashmere hoodies comes to mind first. 

Or all of the cashmere RLX, Greyson, FJ, and even Nike hoodies you see out there with FJ Traditions.  Lulu getting into the golf apparel game of late as well.   Nike's Victory Tour 3 and even the Jordan ADG 4 are more of a traditional chassis shoe with "sporty" styling. 

Definitely a trend with "high-end" athleisure fabrics showing up everywhere.

I suspected this, but this line — items, logos, everything — is as bad as Tigers off course style over the past 20 years. 
 

Just uncool and awkward. 
 

I’m not sure the shoes will sell well — people will just drag their banker-style wingtips they wore in 1997 out of storage to be like Tiger. 

 

It’s apparent the only thing this guy has ever had was a golf game. (Which is awesome!)

Right! As Nike seems to be divesting in golf, adidas seems to be investing.

 

Their shoe line this year looks pretty amazing. The SP20 is what people like me have been looking for from Nike forever and never got — a real athletic-DNA shoe that can be worn comfortably walking the golf course. Not some plastic Barbie shoe with a design from 30 years ago. 
 

and now this SDR line with a scribble/helvetica logo at astronomical prices with zero novelty…who’s gonna buy this? Who’s gonna carry this?  Maybe it’s targeted at the Asian market (where they buy some more uh, Avant-garde styles)?

Huge Tiger fan, and I'm sure whatever he wears will look good on TV, but if I'm being honest I'm not digging the new branding.  The logo is way too busy and SDR is uninspiring to me.  Not loving the direction, not at all.  I highly doubt I'll own any of this.

This feels rushed, corporate, and like the team @ Taylormade was thinking inside a very narrow "shareholder value" frame of mind when they did this from the logo to the market research - and where their decisions ended up. Parts of it - like the launch party - feel like they spent more time on that than the actual product(s).

 

The very off-white-esq styling here paired with the odd logo and what I said above from the outside looking in feels like theyre putting a square peg through a round hole. Like they didnt really have the time to get feedback from anyone outside the team and IP holders before the public release. Tiger has had a swath of styles since his debut as a teen, but none of this feels like him and his persona at all. 

 

Maybe itll get better, but....the carbon face'd drivers havent, either.

Maybe Nike decided late in the year to end the relationship and this was rushed for that reason. Either way, this just doesn’t have a polished feel.
