My driver got smoked too. I also saw the ball speed down and efficiency lower than expected but way better launch conditions. I’m wondering why that is now. It could have been I was mishitting it but the head was so forgiving and stable I couldn’t really tell. End result was amazing though so that’s really all that matters to me lol

Absolutely.  And I had the TSi 3, and can attest that low strikes were dead in that driver.  Haven't hit the TSR.  I wish they would have shown some low strikes in the PXG.

Age is catching up with me. My swing speed with the driver has fallen to 101/102. I gamed the Titleist TSR3 (and its two previous predecessors) to fight excessive backspin, and now I'm finding myself needing it! So I decided to go to PXG, something I never thought I would do. 

 

It was clear without even hitting either that the regular Black Ops--not the Tour-1--would be right for me. So, we went to work on shaft choice, loft angle, and weighting. The result: what you'd expect. More carry, less rollout. Well-struck shots went about the same total distance. But where the PXG was superior was on mishits. (Again, you'd expect that.) I'm pleased with the results.

 

Is this club superior to similar offerings from Callaway, TM, etc.? Of course not. But the fitting process is. (It can be hit-and-miss when you don't know anyone--I'm new to my locale.) And the $150 off for the Heroes discount didn't hurt, either. (Not that I'm an actual hero, of course.)

 

Because I'm particular about my clubs--and I'm well-satisfied with everything else in my bag--this is the only PXG stick I'll game. (Usually, when you see one you see a bagful.) But should that ever change I'll consider these guys again. Now, if they would just produce a single-length iron set...😁

What do you guys think of the Diamana S+ versus the Tensei AV White Raw? I mean, two different profiles, but it's kind of eenie meenie minie moe here give that I expect to be gaming either the Hzrdus Black or Riptide in it.

I'm not really looking for anything but a driver head. So whatever shaft I get will be a play thing. I figure the Diamana would be more height and feel. The Tensei would be more low launch/spin.

I have a Hzrdus Black and Riptide that would both seem to offer a similar complement anyways depending on which one performs better with the Tour-1 head. Yet, having another shaft to play with would be interesting. So I have no requirements. I could likely choose completely at random since I don't really intend on changing profiles.

The PXG fitting location within Peak Performance in Vaughan has the Tour and regular BO heads in 9*.    Dunno about higher or lower lofts because that was the only loft I tried.

Bought a Tour-1 @ 8° with the Tensei AV Raw White 75. I figure I can try it with that to see how I like it. Though, I can try it with the H.Black, Riptide and even the old CB Shafts I still have. 😄

 

My feelings are still conflicted. Should I have bought? Should I have waited? What impulse to buy golf stuff is coming next? Will this be enough?

Got fitted for the black ops over the weekend, PXG stores are LEGIT! Dude was pretty knowledgeable and helped me out with where I’m at today.

I would also like to spread the gospel of the Tour-1, which is going into my bag (9*, Tour AD XC 6X) after it obliterated my gamer both times I tested it (Gen4 0811X, 9*, Diamana S+ 6X).

 

The first thing that jumped out to me was how fast it is. Even with my gamer shaft on it, I consistently swung it a few mph faster than my Gen4. Overall, CHS was up from 119mph to 123mph on average.

 

Then there was ball speed, which jumped from 171.7 to 177.5 on average. Launch came down (from from 13* to 11*), and so did spin (down from ~2,700 (+/- 300) to ~2,300 (+/- 100)). Even when I was hitting cuts, or when I found the bottom rail, Trackman rarely showed spin exceed 2,800 with the Tour-1. It really is a spin killer, which will be a godsend for me out on the course.

 

Add that all up, and the Tour-1 was a full club longer than my gamer, carrying 306yds on average compared to my gamer’s 292. Dispersion was significantly tighter as well. The only thing that gave me pause was the price ($649 base, plus the up charge for the Tour AD), but driver has been the most penal club for me for a while. The chance to start taking advantage of my length (instead of it remaining a liability) was my justification for pulling the trigger.

I have played a couple rounds with the regular BO and it's definitely the most forgiving driver I have ever hit and extremely consistent.  Everything seems to go within 10 yards unless you hit it horribly bad into the wind but even then, it's not as bad as my Sim2 previously.  For me it's 300-310 nearly every drive.  I still think I may pick up the tour head at some point in the same loft...the BO even when you hit it dead on, doesn't quite have the pop.  The consistency is amazing but nothing gives you a shot in the arm like a flushed drive that gets out there an extra 20+ yards.

Honestly, this is the part I hate the most about buying golf equipment. Waiting for it to arrive. LOL

 

I'm going to start it at high weight, but my plan is to dial it down whilst placing still 20g in the back to see if I can turn it down and see what it'll do. The Leatherman Golf range near by has just installed Track Man in all of their bays. They use limited range golf balls, so that is an awesome addition. I'd like to see what it'll do at the various settings. 😄😄

Speaking of discounts, I was incredibly pissed off this morning when I went to PXG.com and saw a new popup to save 10% if I signed up for their mailing list. Well okay, maybe not all that much, but it would have been $65 savings.

Does anyone know if PXG still has the option to pick up in Scottsdale? I went to check out and there was no option for pick up at HQ. Just curious before I call and ask. Thanks. Hate to pay the $40 for shipping when I've always had the option to pick up since I am local.

FYI, my last 2 orders were built in Tucson.
