PXG 0311 Black Ops driver

Recommended Posts

I installed an All-fit adapter on my Nemesys 55S shaft that I have been gaming in my TSR3.

I took the 10.5˚ Black Ops out for 9 holes lastnight and again this morning. I give PXG props, this driver is one of the best feeling drivers I have ever hit. Off the face the ball feels like it was crunched. I do not have any launch monitor numbers to compare to my TSR3, however, I found myself right around where I normally am with my gamer. I had a few drives that were smoked a bit longer than I normally end up on some holes, but that could just be the fact that it was 75 and sunny and my body actually felt good for once. Haha

After this past weekend, the T-1 is in the gamer spot. So long and forgiving with the Ventus Black. My Darkspeed LS is just as long, but not as forgiving on off-center shots which causes spin issues. Actually had a thought today of dumping the Darkspeed LS and getting the standard BOP to mess around with as well. Damn, I hate this site at times!

Well at 66 I don't have quite the swing speed as you I'm sure. I went with the 9* Tour-1 with the Cypher 40 5.5 shaft. It's supposed to be "Autoflex like" but we'll see.

Didn't really need a shaft but it obviously comes with it so I thought I would give that one a try. I'm sure it will end up in my A/F shaft or the Proxima shaft.

Did the challenge today vs my Titleist TSR3.

Really enjoyed it and found the Black Ops Tour to be better for me than the standard.

Black Ops is a rocket, looked and felt great and was ~4 yards longer than my Titleist with a bit better dispersion

Glad I went 10.5, just an outstanding performance for PXG on their driver's this year.

For whatever reason the fitter didn't put the loft down when I did my fitting. But I would think we went with the 9* with my Autoflex. The A/F has such a low kick point with high trajectory I'm thinking the low spin/launch of the Tour-1 will counter that and be a good combination. I do hit up on the ball and my launch angle was 15.4.

So hopefully I guessed right !!

Did the challenge today with my TaylorMade Qi10.

I THOUGHT I was hitting driver good until I went through this fitting.  We wound up increasing launch by 2 degrees, got average spin to 2100.  Gained 8 yards of carry and dispersion is amazing.  I couldn't believe how consistent this driver is.  even on mishits, spin stays under control.  Needless to say, I ordered the driver...  But I also grabbed a 3 wood and 2 hybrid.

Standard or Tour-1? And what were the differences for you?

I recently picked up a Gen6 for cheap.  Getting good numbers with it after playing with the settings and picking a shaft.  Most numbers look close to optimal.  Not sure if the BO is a huge step up?

I went from G6 to BO and I think the BO is better. Distance wise they were pretty close but the BO is more consistent numbers and better dispersion (less curve on mishits). As an example, my misses go longer with less curve, and my average distance is closer to my max than shorter, which is where gen 6 wasn’t my favorite. I would get the occasional 250 carry when my average is 265.

I think G6 was one of their better wood lines but if you have the money, I would go BO. Is it a giant leap? Probably not, but it was definitely noticeable, for me at least.

After reading reviews and hearing everyone talk about the better dispersion I’m thinking PXG has something going with their “non-uniform bulge and roll design”? They don’t really go into detail about it, but maybe they’ve found something. Obviously others have used different face shaping tech in the past but maybe PXG has taken that idea to the next level?

Definitely something going on.  I've never hit a low spin driver that was accurate and forgiving, but this one is.  Really weird.

I’m down to Black Ops vs AI One Smoke Max D for 2024. Haven’t had a chance to really get enough time in with either. I’m figuring that unlike other years of churn, one of these will stick for the season. I’m intrigued by the ability to get the PXG to 10k with a little heavier rear weight. Both look great and sound/feel superb.

I like this a lot! My swing speed has decreased due to age and swing pace over the years. My shot shaped morphed into a higher fade, but I can spin a driver like a lob wedge on occasion. I’m primed for the Black Ops to be a unicorn for me.

Bag is prepped for a round. Just hope it’s next week. Tuesday and Wednesday look promising. Black Ops and AI One Smoke in the bag along with a 4wood/3wood hl from each. Expecting one will win out. Or maybe I’ll just carry 2 drivers and make the 3 hl a 3 and the 4 a 5 through fiddling with the loft. That’ll give me 14.

Matty, like Ian, seeing everything I'm seeing with the T-1. It goes unbelievably straight, spin numbers hold consistent across the face and considerable distance gains over Gen 6. I can't wait to see Ian's showdown versus the Darkspeed LS later this week.
