LAB DF3 Order is in!

I think I may have to change the white sight lines to black.  I am having to take a little extra look or two to see the white sight line on the platinum head in bright sun conditions.  Other than that, the putter is working great.

Im perfectly confident with my DF3 from 2-5 feet, and it’s because I’m sure of my alignment. 
 

I did NOT have the same confidence with the Mezz Max from short range. Same reason I don’t have confidence with a TM Spider EX - just don’t align it well. Blades are way better for me, which is why I went with one of the long perpendicular options on the DF3. 
 

Perhaps you’d have an easier time with a Mezz style from short range.

nah, its all on me, not the putter. I am actually going to try Mont'es Voodoo Putting trick next time out and see if it helps. Worked on the practice green from 10' and in I did not miss.

I logged on as soon as I received the email and had it in my cart. Then I asked myself why would I want a gold putter and deleted it.

At a minimum - to resell for triple.

 

i hate scalpers, but you could have made a pretty penny on the bay.

 

i would have added this to the display, never play part of my putter collection.  Damn, i hate that I missed out on this one.

Perhaps. I was worried that it would be hard to sell. Sounds like I was wrong about that.

Well this didnt work out too well. Lag putting was ok but two were totally off base misread. I think if I do this and then checking the hole will give best of both worlds

Received my DF3 and hit the practice green a couple times.  Initial thoughts - beautifully crafted.  Feels light but it isn't.  Steel shaft has more bend than I thought.  First aluminum putter and feel is a little tingy but not bad.  Shoulder rocking motion with light grip pressure is natural to me.  Speed control is very good.  Need to practice on direction.  Pistol grip is larger than I anticipated.  Used to deep etched.  Not sure it's game changing tech but I do give Mr. Presse props for the original idea.  Looking forward to a full round with it.

Anyone on the fence between CB and standard? I've played standard putters but not sure how CB is with long putts.

I would only add that the secret to putting well with the DF3 is easy to state but somewhat difficult to accomplish for many. 
 

The secret?   Trust the DF3 to do your job.  Stop trying to help it.  If you can do that, pulls and pushes disappear and fast twitch muscle "jabs" also are eliminated.  If you feel you are pushing or pulling DF3 putts, the simple truth is that you aren't trusting it.  Taking your thumbs off the putter in multiple 3-5 foot practice putts will help you to better understand what truly engaging in such a high level of trust is really like.

Does anyone have any good "thumbs off" drills for people who putt with a claw/pencil grip?

Finally jumping in after watching from the shadows for years. Being 6 hour round trip for any golf fitting makes it a bit tough to jump in. Ive only seen their putters at PGA SS and 2nd Swing on the few trips when swinging through phoenix but never wanted to just buy off the shelf if the whole thing is based off lie angle. With all the advocacy on the online fitting being so good and DF3 hype I decided to pull the trigger. I was more upright than expected with 71* and 34.5", was told 5-6 weeks from yesterday so now the painful process if waiting begins.  Looking forward to see how this journey goes as putting has always been a hot and cold part of my game with way more cold days.

I had questions about this earlier in the thread, but now that I've spent some time with my putter, I'd encourage people to try to get fit in person instead of simply relying on the online fit. I think some people are limiting their natural tendencies just simply because when you get "fit" online, you probably are using a mostly standard putter in your fitting. It's hard for me to imagine having the online fitting veer too far away from standard because you have to force your stroke a bit with a standard lie putter. 

 

I got fit in person and fit into 77* putter at 33" - could have even gone to 32". It just felt natural to me to be in that putting position when the putter allowed me to do so. I did an online fitting and they recommended a 71* lie angle which I'm guessing really is just because I was using a standard putter in my video and I wasn't gonna putt with the toe or heel massively off the ground.

 

All things said, I ordered the 77* DF3 and loving it. Happy I went with the in person results. All this is not to discourage online fitting but I just would encourage people to get fit using the adjustable putter if at all possible - never know what will feel natural when you have equipment that will fit your stroke rather than forcing your stroke to fit the equipment.

Arrived this week. Have only had 30 minutes or so with it on the practice green. It is very easy to hit start lines with and I am liking the custom triple alignment. The red is very classy, looks great on the green.

Got my outlet DF3 this week. There was a small nick on the putter head but it’s not really noticeable. 
 

Took it out for the first time on my league night. Took a couple of holes for me to trust it but once I got the tempo down it was so good on lag putts. The Accra shaft makes it feel so soft. Can’t wait to get back out to practice which is something I never say about putting.

I have had the DF3 in the bag for a couple of months now, my local course has been struggling with conditions and their greens haven't been running true, so probably haven't seen the results the putter deserved. Played over the weekend in a qualifying competition at a course that is renowned for having smooth and quick greens and boy oh boy did the DF3 perform.
