A photo of the top of the grip is usually the best give away but I’m already skeptical of this by looking at the lines (rings) around the top and bottom of the grip. The bottom the cord doesn’t reach all the way down and the the top the cord exceeds it, Scotty quality doesn’t usually have that mistake.

I will +1 on that it looks suspect. Quick google search of a authentic one is posted below. If you compare the font they are not even close. The one you posted is much thinner and different font entirely.

So, I pulled the grip from an AOP NP I purchased an Acushnet employee… never actually played it and definitely didn’t ever consider that it might be fake. But cap pic below, but I don’t know that it shows anything different to my untrained eye (slight imprecation around the hole in the cap from compressor nozzle).

So, I'm no connoisseur, but from what I can tell, a legit full cord, dancing Cameron grip should cost about $150. 

 

If I spent that much money on a grip, it had better be a pretty nice grip. 

 

When I look at the photos in the OP, I'm not seeing that level of quality. 

 

This accounts for about 50% of my opinion on the issue. Maybe I am just cheap.

Here is the pic from Ali Express which looks just like yours. And AE is exclusively counterfeit goods. 

 

Also notice the depth of the Scotty Cameron Text, doesn’t match. 

 

Plus what everyone else has said about the end cap.

I mentioned (with several typos) above that I purchased it on an AOP NP from an Acushnet employee directly out of his personal collection. I pulled the grip prior to using it myself, but it was used when I received it. I didn’t really put much thought into the condition or pay attention to any subtle differences because I never planned on using it anyway. 

 

You aren’t wrong about the price of a new SC cord grip either, which IMO is criminal, but that’s beside the point. I couldn’t really see charging that kind of money for a single, pulled putter grip (assuming it was legit). 
 

I’d have a hard time paying that kind of money for any grip, but I’m not sure the price should be an accurate reflection of authenticity. It’s been sitting around for a while and I decided to throw it in the ad last night, obviously my mistake.
 

Basically, there are a ton of fakes out there, so don’t assume that paying $150 for a grip on eBay will guarantee you something authentic. Also, you apparently can’t take it for granted that someone works for the organization that produces the product you’re buying either. 🤔

No disagreement from me. I probably should have done some due diligence prior to listing it. Given the source and my lack of familiarity with SC cord, I didn’t think twice about it being counterfeit. If I had, I wouldn’t have listed it in the first place. 
 

Regardless, it’s been removed from the ad and will go back in the grip drawer. Lesson learned.

This is kinda validating because I saw the grip on the BST yesterday (cheers @MFBach for handling it) and recognized the cord pattern as being indicative of the typical fakes, but I had blown the whistle on similar grips in the past and I always feel like a schmuck for doing so.

I promise you feel like less of a schmuck than the guy that inadvertently listed a counterfeit grip in a classified ad… It was embarrassing enough that my first thought was to close the ad entirely and hide for a little while.
 

Regardless, I would much prefer the current outcome (notification + removal) than any kind of prolonged issue with a sold product, legitimate or not. Ultimately, it was my own ignorance and therefore my own fault, but definitely not the first thing I wanted to see with my coffee this morning.

That’s a pistol shaped grip. Much larger and very different shape.
