Anyone else a mizuno iron headcase?

Had a set of mp58s, mp4s for 7 years, tried ap2s, tried Bridgestones, callaway etc. something about mizuno. Maybe it’s because that’s all I played growing up. I even tried the new mizuno lineup and I didn’t like for some reason. It’s the old mizuno generation for me. From 2010-2015. Mp 68 69, mp4 mp5. I just a bought a practically brand new set of mp64 in same x100 tour issue. It doesn’t get better than this. I honestly feel like I’m going to keep buying mizunos from this generation for the next 20 years.

Do you comment nothing feels like a mizuno on YouTube videos quite often?

jk they make great clubs. Played 223 in 2022 and then MMC in spring 2023 until now. Love them. I’ve always enjoyed a slightly firmer dense feel. MMCs are plug and play for me. The new 243 I could easily play as well.

Lol maybe, plug and play is the perfect expression for it.

My first set was MX-23’s around 2006 or so.  Best irons I ever owned.  JPX 923 HM in the bag now.  Mizuno irons for life.

I'm very happy with the set, if i could say one thing, i wish the shape of the low irons were the same as mp4. Or just the same as the long irons. I find the pw looking too tall and shovely.

I know what you mean about the MP64 PW. I had a set about 12 years ago (was it as long ago as that?), and I actually ordered an MP4 PW because I didn't like the MP64 one.

Then I realised that the MP4 were probably not that much different from the 64s in terms of playability, so I sold the 64s and got a set of MP4s instead. Sort of wish I'd hung on to the 64s, because MP64s in the longer irons and MP4s in the short irons would make for a great combo set.

Since then, I've cycled through three sets of MP4s. First set I replaced with a Yoro custom set of MP4s with Modus 125X shafts. I then sold those after a year or two when I knackered my back and decided that the Modus 125X would be too much shaft. Replaced them with a great secondhand find of MP4s shafted with ATTAS 115X iron shafts at 0.5" over Mizuno standard length. Perfect fit for me.

These are the only pics I have of the Yoro custom set on this computer:

In your honor I bought a set of mp69's just now.  Let's see how they compare to the 33's and 20's.

I love my set of mp69’s. It’s my first set of Mizuno irons and I can’t see them leaving my bag any time soon.

Those yoros are beauties. I’ve loved my time with the mp4s. My best golf. I stopped playing as much because life, and I had quarter marks on the faces I got tired of looking at, not a brag…so I thought let’s make the game easier and came a across an immaculate set of 64s. Turns out the 64s are not any more forgiving imo. Whether that’s to say how amazing MP4s are, or that’s to say that mp64 thicker back is a crock lol.

You’re not alone.

I have an MP60/MP67 combo set that I still play every once in a while. The MP67s in particular are some of the best clubs through the turf that I’ve ever hit.

Whenever they get some run, I wonder if I should just be playing them over my brand new, less than a year old set of…JPX 923 Tours…

I also bought a cheap old set of MP T series wedges to mess around with over the winter as I transition from my last set of wedges into my new set. I was planning on buying the new T24s this Spring, but the MP Ts feel and function so good that I’m now growing fearful the T24 will be a let down.

MX-23’s were my first set upon returning to the game after a long, long layoff.  Took a brief foray into Titleist mb’s, reverted back to the MX-23’s, then quickly moved onto my MP-18 MMC’s and haven’t looked back…really can’t see what  moving “forward” from here would even do. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fellow Mizuno ho right here! I have two sets of MP14s, set of MP29s, MP32s, and MP4s. Also had but sold MP30s and MP52s.

I have been playing the MP14s the last two years. Shot my all time low 78 the first couple months with them. Haven't found the magic since then but I feel it's coming. Somehow I don't play as well with newly released, custom fitted clubs. The old stuff just works!

Acting on looks, feel, and logic (?) I progressed from MP 33's to MP 64's.  Several months ago I started playing the 33's for the heck of it and very surprisingly discovered that for me they were more forgiving than the 64's. I'm not a total fan of Maltby but I checked and the 33's are indeed better rated.

My last 4 sets were Mizuno’s. I keep irons for 5 years so playing them for 20.
went for an iron fitting recently and did not like the 243’s at all. Just not what they used to be in my opinion. Unfortunate because i loved Mizuno’s. Oh well on to something different.

My first “real” set of irons were the Grads. From then on I was hooked.  I actually wore the chrome off the sole of the 7 iron in that set.

Started with MX-23s.   That set lives up at my buddy's house in NJ, its like putting on your favorite pair of jeans when you find them in the back of the closet.  ahhh....

Moved on to JPX-825 Pro.  Awesome sticks.  They are at my dad's house in Jacksonville, waiting for me.  (I hate travelling with my clubs).

MP-54 came next.  Still have those in the garage.  Also have a set of MP-32 with OG Rifle shafts.  So good...

My current gamers (see sig) are the first non-Mizuno irons I've had in the last 20 years.  And they are staying in the bag.  I just don't think the current Mizuno lineup (last 6 years or so) feel the same as stuff from MP-5 and earlier.

@Whatnogarnish, MP-66 are the one set I wish I had been able to hit.  I've been tempted to pick up a set off the 'bay, there are usually a few listed.

@WhatDoIKnow, MP-53 are awesome.  Probably the best version of players cavity that Mizuno has made.  I like my 54s, but the 53 felt better.

I am DONE buying Mizuno irons....  Because over the last couple of months I've purchased sets of MP-32, MP-68, MP-62, and MP-53 heads should be arriving today.  I have to stop somewhere.  Right?

I’ve never bought heads before, how much does it cost generally if I buy heads to throw on shafts

On a whim I picked up a set of MP-55 Japan release from the classifieds here early last summer.  Reminds me of the combo MP-53/63 set I had for years that I should never have gotten rid of.  Beautiful shape in all of the clubs, feel is outstanding.

My favorite set of all time.  I kick myself for selling them a few years back.
