Yea, i mean, ZJ just picked his buddies. Dunno who will be the 2025 captain. Maybe Tiger (?), kind of feel the PGA of Americas was waiting for the merger to happen and they would have the green light for Phil. Hard to believe if Tiger's the captain he wouldn't try to pick them as well. Tiger's not playing US Open practice rounds with Taylor Moore, Harris English and Mav McNealy. 

 

Two things I always think about in the 2023 Ryder Cup, (1) somewhat hard to base on points, I think the US team was somewhat sick that week. Looking it up, Scottie only scored 1 point from two combined halves. (2) If the LIV guys never left and got a full schedule, would have probably seen more Bryson, and maybe Reed or DJ in that last couple of spots. Kind of feel that the network/PGA leans on picks too, I get it ratings, but when Harman auto qualifiers, you need some name brand palyers

Nothing wrong with different points of view.  What's problematic is excessive noise. When you block the noise you can see more clearly.

I don't even think the two are comparable. Collin seems like a nice, smart, humble guy. Not personally his biggest fan but wouldn't root against him unless I really wanted someone else to win. Not sure I've ever even heard of people liking Cantlay. Smug, painfully slow, doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor. Obviously super talented, but the opposite of fun to watch

I’ve never done it here, but I have been in a few other communities when it was pretty much necessary because there was no external moderation. Here there are only a very few people I can recall who might have deserved it, like the southern-fried good ol’ boy who used to boast about his cooking and eating prowess during majors - I don’t know if he also went on cooking forums to boast about his golf game.  And then, of course, there’s Ferguson. 😉

I’ve trained myself to not allow the excessive noise to adversely affect my sight (a result of some SEAL training I did 😉)

I can't help but feel like wins are weighted too heavily by the system. There's a strong chance Harman would have made it anyway, but if it wasn't for Rickie winning the rocket mortgage (or whatever random tour stop it was), I don't think there would have been any basis to take him. Now, I concede it's totally unfair to wipe a tournament he won off the board, and I'm not suggesting that, but if you're going to use a captain's pick I can't reconcile how it wouldn't have gone to Bryson or Reed. I hate Reed, but we have all seen what he has done in international competition. It's not even close between him and Fowler. Fowler is 3-7-5 all time at the RC. Reed is 7-3-2. I knew it was a big gap but I didn't know it was that big. Bryson hasn't had a ton of Ryder Cup experience so I find it harder to hold his poor record of 0-3 against him, but I still think he has FAR more upside than Fowler does.
