Didn't they fall victim to PINGs secret shoppers? Meaning they are no longer allowed to sell PINg because they were selling it below what PING states you have to sell it for?

They're still have great service but their pricing was much better when this thread was started. Everything I tried to buy in the last two years has been found cheaper elsewhere.

 

Even custom order?

 

I've only tried to order a couple things custom order from them and it's been a couple years

 

I don't know, just ordered the SM 4.5LS and it was way cheaper than anywhere else. Love Discount Dan's!

 

That was actually the last thing I priced for from them. Found it cheaper somewhere else.

Sadly, they don't carry PING anymore. I bought my current set of G2 irons from them back in 03 (I think). I sent an email for a quote on G25s couple of years ago and they said they don't offer PING anymore. Sad.

I have used them in the past and had a great experience with their pricing and service, the service is still great but not the pricing. I reached out to them a couple of times recently and was just given the MSRP on those items and they are not custom orders.

Glad I'm not the only one who had a bad experience with Discount Dan's. I got a quote on some irons, then came back a month later to order and suddenly it's $120 more for the same thing. They did the same thing with a friend of mine last month where they emailed him a quote then refused to honor it when he went order. Would have been the same price AND I would have gotten them faster if I had just ordered from a local store or big box retailer.

This is all very baffling to me. Just ordered something today and it was 50$ cheaper than everywhere else. And in the past, they have always honored previous quotes or given me promo deals that were expired (50$ off irons set, etc).

 

Is there 2 places called discount Dan's and you all are at the wrong one?

I've found them usually to be about $50 off retail. But it's really easy to do better than that with sales and other discounts.

My whole bag, outside of putter and hybrids came from Maple Hill, and they are hard to beat for pricing and service. I will definitely keep using them in the future.

I had the same experience recently. Requested a quote on a set of custom irons (mizunos). To their credit they replied within a few hours but the quote was msrp to the penny

Best practice is to not talk pricing here. It's why people are getting full msrp quotes

They will order you any irons you want custom and give you a $50 bill....most shops don't give 5 bucks and only stock certain things. They are a site sponsor as well.
