Consider yourself lucky. In Ontario the government not only controls t prices but also what products we can and can't have

Not Lucky! Same thing here. Some like weller 12, larceny and ancient ancient age 10 star come to mind that are not sold in my fine state.

Just opened up my bottle of Knob Creek "Smoked Maple" and poured a finger.

Inhaled and smelled like ... mmm Maple.

1st sip over the tongue, and it's like alcohol infused maple syrup. Very, very sweet. Alone, it's too sweet. But I think it would be better served as a cognac, after dinner. Probably after pork or something.

Nice. Is that the standard FRSB OBSV recipe?

I liked the standard FRSB recipe. Picked up a private selection OBSO. Like this as well as it has more spice to it. Next up, hope to get my hands on an OBSK which is the full spice recipe.

Never noticed the Blantons shortage until today. After spending 5 days on vacation really enjoying some good Blantons I decided to finally pick some up locally. Previously, the handful of stores around me *always* had 3-4 bottles in stock, I mean it was always there. Then suddenly - poof - it was all gone. Luckily I had them track down one bottle for me that I just picked up. But it seems like overnight it went from always available at every store I went into to one bottle available in the closest 6 liquor stores. ($54.90 here fwiw)

I saw that same thing happen maybe right around the new year here in WI. Still trying to find a bottle, not necessarily active, but once every other week.

all the Blanton's shortage talk got me scared...after visiting 3 stores that were out of stock, I managed to find a store that had ONE bottle on the shelf...viola! couldn't resist grabbing a few other bottles as well, so here is the new tasting batch!

$135 in MN, so $150 in NY probably very fair, especially for a bottle that isn't exactly easy to find...now, just waiting for the right excuse to open her up!

Thanks for confirming highdraw. I may have to pull the trigger. They also have Jeffersons 25 year Bourbon and Jeffersons 25 year Rye but both are priced in the $250 range.

if you do try it soon, please give a review! at the price point, it is tough to beat the 1792 for quality/taste/price combined, but it still isn't Jefferson's ;-)

I actually picked up a bottle of Elijah Craig on my way home from work tonight. First time trying this. Mixed feelings about this one. For me, please bear in mind I am relatively new to bourbon, I thought the oak was overbearing. Who knows, maybe I've been drinking too much Elmer T. Lee.

Close to my purchases from the last few weeks. 1792 and Michter's in addition to these beauties that were all added this week. Finally found a bottle of Blanton's ($55). Likely overpaid but have been looking for it for 2 months now.

Turns out I know who the guy is that had the stolen Barrels of wild turkey. He works at buffalo trace, and used to work in shipping. I wouldn't put it past this guy stealing the Pappy. I would guess he might be charged with that in the future. This guy also got caught with steroids, cash and 20 guns.
