A full set of Ping Eye 2 irons (3-pw) plus a partial set 6-pw). Walking my dog, the clubs were set out in the garbage. Sticking out of the recycling can.

In the last week or so I've had a bit of a run of good luck finding stuff.

 

First find was a Nike Method Concept putter. Kind of odd looming, but it puts a nice roll on the ball. Came with a SS 3.0 Slim. Got it for $10

 

Next I found a Nike VR Pro 3 wood with the stock PX 6.5 shaft for $6.

 

Today, I found a mythical "Goodwill Scotty Cameron". Unfortunately it is probably the least popular model he's released, a Caliente mallet, but for $6, I like it as a slightly more modern Zebra putter. Can't go wrong with a Scotty for 6 bucks.

MB2 3-pw for $100 CDN. Awesome shape. Could have got them for less if I haggled a bit but figured it was already a steal. Going to shaft the 4-p with some LZ 6.0 and have at it.

Wow, great set of heads. I've been playing a set of Adams MB2's set up with PXI 6.0 and I have an extra set of them stashed away just in case... excellent find!

20 Bridgestons B330s mostly new for 2 bucks.

 

Alpha 5w with a top of the line shaft for 4 bucks. Forget the shsft at this time.

 

Find lighly used Pro V1s in mixed bags for 2 bucks a dozen.

I had another good Ben Hogan find today. Apex Plus Irons 2 through F, unfortunately no 7.. These have been on my list of "must have" for while. If anybody has a 7 iron that they can part with PM me.

After a couple months of fruitless trips, I had a good score yesterday. Nike Sport II cart bag and Method Core MC-02W putter, both in near-mint condition. Bag also had a couple dozen balls in it. Nothing great, but good enough for hitting into a net in my garage. $10 each at Goodwill.

Cleveland 52-56-60 Rotex 2 $3 each. Ping i3 3-9, $3 each.

Ping Eye 2 + in absolutely cherry condition. I believe three or four of the irons have never even touched a ball. ZZ lite shafts with no bag wear and shaft bands in mint condition. Original grips, a little dry, but again with absolutely no wear. Only issue is I have 3-SW with 5 iron missing.

 

Ping Anser 2 putter in the same condition as the irons above.

 

Hogan bag in two tone color, blue and brown with again no wear at all. Bag still has the factory paper stuffed in some of the pockets for the bag to hold its shape. A couple of blank scorecards stuffed in pockets from the Cleveland area, along with assorted new balls and tees still in the packages.

 

Someone put together a nice bag and only ever played it a time or two.

 

All out the door for a little over $50.

I think maybe the Goodwill store you go to have people that aren't too bright pricing golf stuff... The stores near me have nothing but junk

^^^ This is the same for the stores in my city. Nothing but junk and they have everything higher priced than I see here. Individual irons are $4.99 or more, old golf bags are like $14.99, old woods/drivers if any are $6.99 and only see the small headed old drivers or knockoffs.

Most of the time it is junk. Good clubs go quickly so it just becomes a matter of luck to be there at the right time. It has been several months since I found anything of value and I'd like to think that others have picked up good clubs in that time. I'm certainly not the only one looking. Would be nice to know what others have picked up from the thrift stores I frequent.

Came across a nice set of Golfsmith Forged Professional Grind blades, 4-9, with TT Gold Plus S300 shafts.

 

Also found a Taylormade Rescue TP *15. Love the head shape on this and the simple metallic grey crown.

 

Finally, I found a Teardrop Zebra Z2 mallet. I've always liked this head shape and I think the radial face is a novel technology.

 

My plan is to combine them all into a 6 club quasi-hickory set, with the rescue, 5, 7, & 9 irons, and a 52* vokey creating 10* gaps. Should be fun in an old sunday bag.

I went back for several days to see if the 7 iron would show up but it never did. So I picked up a nice one on Ebay for $12 plus shipping. Then I went back last week and they had a matching sand wedge!

Found a Studio Design 1 (very rusty but no real damage which is a plus!) for $4.50, also in the bin was a White Hot 2 ball, and a couple of cleveland sand wedges in great shape for the backup bag. $20 out the door for the lot, couldn't believe my luck!! Will add pics when I can get some uploaded :) :)

No kidding, I've never seen a name brand club in any goodwill/thrift store. Some of these folks have been really lucky.

Stopped by the goodwill here, not a single piece of sports equipment there. I asked one of the guys working and he said they don't bring in any of that stuff at this location.

Damn you guys after bingeing on this forum for the last few days I made a stop at one goodwill, and saw a bunch of junk but then below them all was this mint ping anser 2 with a super stroke grip. . Beginners Luck, I don't know but now I am addicted.
