Sounds like the 913s are kind of working out, eh? 5 under in tournament play is okay I guess....

Well, recieved the TS 7.2 today and took it to the course. I think I may do a little review as it is the stiffest shaft I think I have ever hit. WOW, this thing is stiff lol. I pretty much have to go after it with this baby, no naps on the tee.
Have you played the VTS Black in TX flex? Think that's the stiffest shaft I've ever played and I have an 8.2x on order coming in, hope its not too bad.

No, haven't hit that one. I have the TS 8.2 X in my 3 wood and love it too. Tai lead me to the water. These are great shafts. I had already figured out the 913 D3 7.5 was the ticket, but not the 913 FD. These shafts make them super straight.

Covert Tour will now be added to this.. :)
I'd be surprised if you liked the CT 3 wood as much as your 913. I wouldn't be surprised at all with the driver though. Maybe if you and swan can sneak in there and steal a couple of those tour covert long hosel 3 woods that Tiger and Rory are hitting. :derisive:

I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Oven and was fitted. As I have mentioned in here before, the Covert was one of the only clubs I really wanted to try in this shootout that I just ran out of funds and was on the fence on the red paint. Once they show up, straight in the bag for comparison on course compared to the D3 (which was solid at the Oven during testing).

those are some huge carries! Thanks for the notes!

Like others have said, do you place basically any emphasis at all on the numbers at your SS? I mean who cares in the end whether you hit it 320 or 326? You are already plenty long enough to play any course in the world

Are you just going to pick based on preference and comfort level with the driver?

I carried one 285 the other day into a monitor and was pretty excited. That's like a 3 wood for you!
Jeff - I know that I can generate good numbers on a Trackman etc.. but I'm basically seeing if any of the new stuff is dramatically better than my current setup (VR LTD's). I think that I can hit anything good with minimal gains when my swing is grooved and I'm hitting it well. But, I'm MERELY A WEEKEND GOLFER who will always look for something that might improve my game with minimal practice :) even if it's mental. Basically the point of the shootout is to see if anything really stands out for any reason that I might not have normally tried. A lot of good offerings this year, so there is a lot of stuff that got my attention. Plus with some of these giveaways with people stumbling over themselves with the hype (warranted or not) I want to try the stuff for myself and see what's reality and what is pure marketing :)

When the dust settles from this, and that could be a while, I'm going to pick whatever is the most versatile setup that is the best blend of speed and consistency that can hold up under pressure or when my swing is off.

-Oprah's Book Club
Tai have you hit any Tour edge stuff. I have been looking for a new fairway, and xhp has been leading the pack, but stock shaft sucks for me, and I am not sure what I want. I have hit the tee Xrail and been getting numbers as good as or better than the xhp without trying to find new shafts.
I did try the new TE 3 wood. Very good looking and very long, definitely a good option! My best speeds were with the XHP, TE, and RBZ2.. all of them I got best of 168-171 mph. I'm going to put together some RFE's to test in this, and they could very well end up winning this :)
I almost fell of my chair when I read this....Merely a weekend golfer? Pure you are a certified ho! I do love it though, this has been by far my favorite thread that I've come across on GolfWRX, although I do get INTENSELY jealous of that arsenal of yours.

^^^^ Lol, thanks!

The Coverts will have the Speeder 7.2/8.2's in them and those are the shafts I was fitted to at The Oven. Looks like some old fashioned WRX testing wasn't too far off ;)

Besides the numbers did they say why the Speeders are the choice? For example transition speed or some sort of action works best for you?

1" of tipping on the 7.2TS in an X is insane, Tai! That shaft untipped is STRONG. I can't imagine playing it the way you've got it set up.

Come up to the bay so me and Ryan can get some Tai-time. I'll be sure to peg Ryan in the back with a ball in the middle of his backswing and to shank a wedge at your face. It'll be fun...

Dispersion and lack of sidespin on misses were far and away better than the next best shaft which was the DI BB7x. Especially since we were hitting into a 30mph headwind, it really showed what the shafts did.
