Golfsmith Tour issue Cleveland wedges

What is the difference with these so called " tour issue"? Is there any difference or just using tour issue as a buzz word?

It looks like they are using Dynamic Gold shafts (s400), where they usually come with their proprietary Traction shaft.

Tour Issue clubs are what the pros are given. If GolfSmith is selling the club new, how can it qualify as Tour Issue? Wouldn't it automatically have to be Retail Issue?

guys they're about 3 years old so its not like their the 588s . They probably came into a batch of them for whatever reason. Ive been stalking a raw 46/48, 52, 58 set and aside from the ones and twos that pop up on the bay, the only place i saw them was global golf. I grabbed the CG16 RTGs 48,52,58 .. had a gift card anyways..

regardless they are already shipped which is the biggest concern when dealing with golfsmith

Those wedges aren't available through Cleveland's retail outlets and it seems like Cleveland are clearing out their excess tour inventory.

BTW, thanks for the link, I bought couple of CG14 RTG offset wedges in 52* & 58* lofts. Those are very hard to find.

There really needs to be a rule that allows my credit card to sense when I am browsing golf forums. New set of wedges later to go with the new jacked up lofts on my irons, and boom. Hopefully Golfsmith online doesn't let me down on this one. Thanks for the heads up!

Except in this instance they are being sold at retail. The words "tour issue" are funny to me.

Its not a matter of where they're sold that makes them tour issue, it's how the manufacturer designates them - retail line vs. tour issue line.

I think its because they are tour issue, which is usually excluded.

Also the CG 14 offset, is it more or less offset?

How do you know what grind you are getting?

I have the cg14 raw RTG wedge and it's pretty nice. It's a little heavier than most retail wedges which is really nice

All tour gear. Great find and most have s400 shafts and there are some rare set-ups i.e. cg14 offset heads also RTG finishes etc.

Anyone else get theres? Mine (cg16 RTG) came today and I was expecting the silk screened s400s but the shaft is labeled with wedge. Worried that they sent me the CG16s retail instead. ... Have the 48 wrapped in a papertowel outside to see if it starts rusting before i call and blow a gasket

*update* they are definitely rusting... so thats a start..

So when were these "issued" on tour? If they were "issued" shouldn't they be in the used section. Must have went the way of Cameron and use that term as a selling point.

I think we are good to go. The faces don't have any laser etched words on them. I think the retail version has words laser etched on the face.

mine also didnt have the 'laser' etched on it.

so Im happy about the club head.. but not so happy about the shafts. Gonna call them today because even my invoice listed s400. The issue is I am not going to send them back and take a chance of them not having what in stock what I initially ordered..

yourtourcollection.com has a ton of tour issue 588....forged and original in all finishes and different grinds. I know he had the original 588 on sale with TZG for $79. Still one of the best wedges ever made IMO.

I wouldn't exactly call them tour issue, an overused moniker but it does seem like they came from Cleveland's tour stock for the tour players that's otherwise unavailable for retail purchase. It appears that Cleveland are clearing out their tour inventory.

Seems these are up to $99.99 now. I actually had two 52/58 sets in my cart from the other day (CG 16 RTG and CG 14 BP), and they still showed $69.99 in my cart, and just let me check out at that price.

I find it interesting that the CG 14's on the website have the yellow gel insert (vestige from the non-conforming days I thought), as opposed to the black gel insert (from the conforming days I thought). Description says conforming grooves, so I suppose it doesn't mean much though.

I am also surprised at the variety of lofts in LH, seemingly more variety and availability than at retail. Nice to see that.

Well, didn't need these, and more money out the door, but interested to see what arrives.

Edit to add that for you righthanders, 3balls seems to have stock of some of the Tour Issue wedges for $67.50, and provides the following better description:
